Not every class A team played this weekend, but enough squads played that we had movement in our Power Rankings! We have some exciting matchups this week as EDC and WDA league play begins. See below for the PHD updated Power Rankings.
POWER RANKINGS
#1 Minot (1-0)
This weekend: WIN 94-60 over Devils Lake
Next game: Dec 6th at Williston
Comments: Darik Dissette Darik Dissette 6'4" | SG Minot | 2023 State #300 Nation ND looked like Superman on Friday and he put up great stats with 36 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Aric Winczewski Aric Winczewski 6'2" | CG Minot | 2025 State ND also put up impressive numbers with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. It was a dominant performance on Friday night for the Magi. I am interested to see how Minot performs on the road at Williston. For this early in the year, the Magi are looking like a complete team and it’s early December. Imagine what they will look like in March!
#2 Bismarck Century (1-0)
This weekend: WIN over Moorhead 89-56
Next game: Dec 6th home vs. Dickinson
Comments: On Friday night, the Patriots headed east across North Dakota for a border battle matchup. Moorhead is a AAAA team that went to State last season and they returned some nice players. I thought it would be a tightly contested game, instead, the Pats stomped the Spuds. The “Fab 4” for Century ( Anthony Doppler Anthony Doppler 6'4" | SG Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND , Ryan Erikson Ryan Erikson 6'10" | C Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND , William Ware William Ware 6'7" | SF Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND , and Isaiah Schafer Isaiah Schafer 6'1" | CG Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND ) showed up and showed out at Moorhead. The Pats proved that they are an offensive juggernaut and that everyone should be scared of the Red, White, and Blue.
#3 Fargo Davies (0-0)
This weekend: No game
Next game: Dec 6th at Grand Forks Central
Comments: The Eagles might have the best offensive-minded coach in North Dakota with Bart Manson. They also have the most dynamic backcourt in North Dakota with Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'2" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State #240 Nation ND , Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND , and Daniel Yorke Daniel Yorke 6'1" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND . Davies will be playing a fast-paced and electric style of hoops. I have heard that the Eagles may have some possible lingering injuries from the football season. Nothing is official and we will have to wait until Tuesday night to see who gets on the floor for Davies.
#4 Grand Forks Red River (0-0)
This weekend: No game
Next game: Dec 6th at Shanley
Comments: They have one of the best starting 5 in the state. Zach Kraft Zach Kraft 6'2" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND aka The Red River Rifle is an elite shooter, super skilled, smooth, and an all-around stud on the court. I really like the flow, pace, and feel that Kraft plays with. Reis Rowekamp Reis Rowekamp 6'4" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND is a powder keg waiting to explode for points. Reis spreads the floor, can shoot over small defenders, and he can get hot in a hurry. Pearce Parks Pearce Parks 6'2" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2025 State ND is the 3rd piece of this potent backcourt for RR. He is a “super soph” that is majestically athletic and he produces on both ends of the court. The Roughriders are going to be one of the best offensive teams in ND, expect them to put on a show this Tuesday.
#5 Bismarck Legacy (1-0)
This weekend: WIN 78-66 over Fargo North
Next game: Dec 9th home vs. Watford City
Comments: Legacy took down #4 ranked Fargo North on Saturday and the Sabers led the entire game! Brayden Weidner Brayden Weidner 5'10" | CG Bismarck Legacy | 2023 State ND and Parker Falcon Parker Falcon 6'6" | SG Bismarck Legacy | 2025 State ND had standout games in the upset win over the EDC foe. Weidner showed off his shooting with 4 triples. He looks to have a high IQ, was good in the P&R game, and reads the defense well. Parker Falcon Parker Falcon 6'6" | SG Bismarck Legacy | 2025 State ND showed off his shooting stroke with 5 three-balls and he finished with 17 points. Talk about a welcomed addition to the varsity squad! Everyone would love to have a 6’5 sophomore that can shoot the lights out. The Sabers look scary!
