The rankings of @PrepHoopsTN reflect long-term potential and not necessarily current production. Each season there are low-ranked or unranked players that produce greatly.
Most of the players listed below are rarely discussed on our website, but certainly deserving of shine.
EJ Turner (Riverdale) is consistently good for his Warriors. Playing Wednesday in Kentucky against Southwestern, Turner hit seven three-pointers!
Davis Long Davis Long 6'0" | PG Franklin | 2024 State TN continues to prove our ranking of him objectively inaccurate. Long hauled his team across the finish line Wednesday night by scoring nine points in the overtime frame!
Tre Monette Tre Monette 6'2" | SG Monterey | 2023 State TN (Monterey) scored 61 points Wednesday to set the school’s single-game scoring record. Monette transferred in from Jackson County, where he helped the Blue Devils advance to an impressively deep level (2A Sectional) of the playoffs before eventually falling to State Champions East Nashville High School. Monterey is a tough team and Monette is very, very under the radar statewide. We will work to feature him more in the coming months as 61 points is undeniable. In his record-breaking game, Tre made 21-22 free throws (95.45%). In the last two seasons Tre’s teams are 35-13. The team was demoralized in a recent Kentucky-based basketball tournament, losing four in a row. If you manipulate the record to only include Tennessee opponents, then Monette is 34-9 in his last two seasons.
McCallie’s Parker Robison Parker Robison 5'11" | PG McCallie | 2024 State TN (featured picture above) is a known man around Chattanooga. In fact, opposing coaches are aware of the sharpshooter. Players from the Chattanooga area often enter games with a little bit of an idea what Parker is best at…shooting. Despite this mild early reputation the sophomore is succeeding for an exceptionally strong program in McCallie. He was injured earlier this season, according to McCallie Head Coach Steve Robison. Our first in-person look at him was in June at BCAT 100 in Lebanon High. Robison looked young, smallish against the competition, and perhaps he will always be a guard on the small side. Tough to know if he will grow a little more. Either way, he is maturing into a point guard with poise. He is not a one-trick pony. Shooting earned him early respect, but the broadening game will sustain him in a tough district and potentially set him up for a college offer or several.
Keith Roland Keith Roland 5'8" | PG Pearl-Cohn | 2023 State TN is a gritty, tenacious player occasionally mentioned in this PrepHoopsTN ecosystem. He scored 11 points with eight assists for Pearl-Cohn Wednesday night. Keith goes by “KP.”
