Newark Eastside: Sutan Fitzpatrick Sutan Fitzpatrick 5'10" | PG Covenant College Prep | 2024 State NJ & Quatrell Wilson Quatrell Wilson 6'5" | SF Newark East Side | 2023 State NJ
The Red Raiders are poised for a big 2022-23 season with seniors Fitzpatrick and Wilson headlining the offense. The former is a twitchy floor general who uses his explosive first step to blow by his defender and finish around the basket. Wilson is a lanky wing prospect who can put the ball on the floor and can draw contact around the basket. They are both strong rebounders and make plays on the defensive end. Fitzpatrick and Wilson are looking to end their varsity careers on a high note as they look to lead Newark Eastside to its first sectional title since 2019.
Paterson Eastside: Bryce Stokes Bryce Stokes 6'3" | SG Paterson Eastside | 2023 State NJ & Preston Brown Preston Brown 6'3" | SG Paterson Eastside | 2023 State NJ
The Ghosts won over 20 games in 2021-22 for the first time since 2015-16 and has the potential to do so again with their top two scorers returning. Stokes can score the ball in multiple ways as he finishes nicely around the basket and has a nice release on his jumper. Brown is attacks the basket with a purpose as he is a good finisher around the basket and is unafraid of contact. They both get deflections on the defensive end and play with good chemistry in the backcourt. Stokes and Brown are talented scorers who are looking to lead Paterson Eastside deep in the state tournament in 2022-23.
Trenton Central: Davontay Hutson Davontay Hutson 6'2" | SG Trenton | 2023 State NJ & Antwan Bridgett Antwan Bridgett 5'9" | PG Trenton | 2023 State NJ
The Tornadoes fell in the Central Jersey Group 4 title game last season and should get their again this season. Hutson is a strong wing prospect who knows knows how to finish through contact and has a nice touch around the basket. Bridgett has a tight handle, which he uses to create separation in the half court and has a smooth release on his jumpers. Hutson rips down rebounds on both ends of the floor, while Bridgett gets his teammates involves in the half court. Trenton Central made deep runs in the Mercer County and Central Jersey Group 4 tournaments in 2021-22 and should do it again this season.
Egg Harbor: DJ Germann DJ Germann 5'11" | PG Egg Harbor | 2023 State NJ & Jamil Wilkins Jamil Wilkins 6'1" | SG Egg Harbor | 2023 State NJ
Egg Harbor was one of the top Group 4 schools in South Jersey last season and should be one to watch again this season. Germann has a good handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the basket. Wilkins is a lanky wing who is a strong finisher in the paint and rises up nicely on his jumper. They are both good on-ball defenders and solid passers in the half court. The Eagles fell in the South Jersey Group 4 semifinals last season and will be looking to make a deep run again this season.
Linden: Elijah Motley Elijah Motley 6'0" | PG Linden | 2023 State NJ & Nas Robinson Nas Robinson 5'9" | PG Linden | 2024 State NJ
The Tigers lost to Elizabeth in the North Jersey 2 Group 4 title game last season and have the chance to make another deep run this season. Motley has a good shooting stroke as he wastes little motion and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Robinson has a lightning quick first step and a tight handle as defenders have trouble keeping him out of the lane. They play well off each other as both have the ability to play on or off the ball. Linden will be a fun team to watch this season with Motley and Robinson together in the backcourt.
