I attended the Sunnyslope Hoopsgiving Tournament at Deer Valley, Hilcrest Prep vs Over Time Elite, Millennium Nike Tournament, Fear the Hop at Mesa, Welcome to the Jungle at Gilbert and Black Hawk Thanksgiving Classic at Williams Field.
Here were some of the players who are classic Glue Guys:
Calvin Windley Calvin Windley 6'3" | SF Peoria | 2023 State AZ Peoria
A long defensive minded wing will help Camacho and co. perfectly. He may not have the elite size but his motor and effort make up for it. He has a tighter handle to get into the paint and will finish through contact. He does all the little things.
Ben Egbo Ben Egbo 6'4" | SF Perry | 2023 State AZ Perry (Pictured)
Playing with two 5 star players, you have to find your niche. That is defense for Egbo. He plays the passing lanes well with steals, deflections and gets many loose balls. He springs up quickly to dunk it effortlessly and he can hit the catch three. He is a star in transition and a very good teammate.
Clayton Werner Clayton Werner 6'0" | CG Valley Vista | 2023 State AZ Valley Vista
Playing next to Isai for a few years and does many things to like. He can catch and shoot from mid to the three. He is tough on defense and will defend guards and even help on the post players. He also plays the passing lanes smartly for steals.
Jayden Sleeper Jayden Sleeper 5'8" | PG Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ Deer Valley
A tough undersized scoring guard can shoot it with range. He can use his speed to get to the basket but can rattle off triples quickly. He has a mean pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and oh by the way he played the whole game with two broken fingers taped up. You won’t find many tougher guards. When he is playing well, DV will be hard to beat in 4A.
Trey Brown Trey Brown 6'7" | SF Phhoenix Prep | 2023 State AZ Hillcrest Prep
Playing alongside of multiple pro prospects, he is finding his groove. He plays some point forward for them and defends. He is good in transition, he can hit the catch-3 with a quick release and makes plays. He had a race down dunk on the break that was eye popping.
Maurice Lakes Maurice Lakes 5'10" | SG Mesquite | 2023 State AZ Mesquite
A highly skilled shooting guard has a sweet shooting stroke. He has range on his shot but is smart and strong. He will give a hard ball fake and take one step up and shoot it from mid-range. He made a pivotal rebound down the stretch in a tight game.
Tyson Wheeler Tyson Wheeler 6'5" | PF Chandler | 2023 State AZ Chandler
An undersized power forward grabs out of area rebounds. He can post his man up with his back to the basket with either hand and rip thru and score through contact with his sturdy frame. He can face-up from the elbow and in and plays with a big motor to compete.
AJ Seumanu AJ Seumanu 6'2" | SF Mesa | 2024 State AZ Mesa
A tough wing forward can catch and shoot from the three, fight inside with the post players and his toughness shines through every time I view him. He is an out of area rebounder with his strength. He can create his own shot with a nice handle for a forward. He is needed for the Jackrabbits to make a deep run in 6A.
Jaelen Green Jaelen Green 6'2" | SF Gilbert | 2024 State AZ Gilbert
An athletic wing defender. He scores on put backs, runs it transition and rebounds at a good rate. The faster the game goes, the better he is. He has great length and speed in the open court. He is great on the glass and defends all AIA positions and moves without the ball for layups.
Quintin Ragland Quintin Ragland 6'1" | SG Tucson | 2025 State AZ Tucson
A tough two-way sophomore is very good in transition. He will defend multiple positions and can make a catch corner three. He, like O’Bannon, bothered the San Tan guards with length, toughness and lateral quickness. Tucson is definitely a sleeper 6A team.
