This was Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'2" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State #240 Nation ND ‘s 2nd game back after injury and I was interested to see how he would look against the tough guards from Moorhead. It is always an exciting game when these two teams get together and this matchup was no different.
This one started slowly with a few errant turnovers. Early on the whistles were going hot and heavy. The whistles did not stop all night and there were 57 total free throws shot. It was a back-and-forth game early and then Davies took the lead and seemed to be in control. Moorhead made a run late in the half to tie the game up and then Colton Hagen Colton Hagen 6'4" | PG Moorhead | 2023 MN hit a 3-pointer at the end of the half to put the Spuds ahead by 3. Moorhead carried that momentum into the second half and they built themselves a double-digit lead. It seemed like the Spuds had a comfortable lead and it was all over but the crying. However, Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'2" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State #240 Nation ND and the Eagles were not done. They came roaring back and made things very interesting down the stretch. Dylan Zimmerman Dylan Zimmerman 6'5" | SF Moorhead | 2024 State MN made huge shots when the game was on the line to help finish off the Eagles. The pace was not great, there were a ton of fouls, the stars shined, and it came down to the end. It was another fun game between Moorhead and Davies.
Happy Holidays to the Spuds and Eagles!
Next up: Moorhead plays @ Sartell-St.-Stephen on 1/3. Davies plays at Red River on 12/29.

Adam Jenkins Adam Jenkins 6'9" | C Moorhead | 2023 State MN (2023) |6’9 PF|
28 points, 25 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 triple, 5/6 FTs. The MSUM commit was an absolute beast last night. The Eagles had nobody that could match his size and strength. When on the block, the Eagles were forced to front Jenkins and double from the backside. This helped to slow Adam down at times but it was not super effective. This put the Eagles out of position and allowed Mr. Jenkins to grab many offensive rebounds. I will admit, it was fun to see Yorke and Klabo battling with Jenkins on the block. Adam got the scoring started with an O-board tip-in. Jenkins showed off his springs with a 2-handed WHAM after he caught a lob pass. Davies was fronting, Jenkins sealed, caught, and slammed. Shortly after, Adam had a wildly impressive 2-handed alley-oop SLAM. Wow, he gets to the rim in a hurry! He was a workhorse on the boards from both ends. This led to multiple points off putbacks. After he grabs a rebound and comes to the floor, it looks like Jenkins is jumping off a trampoline when he goes up for the putback score. He showed off his shooting ability with a 3-ball. Jenkins runs the floor well and he scored in transition. Adam had a fantastic night for the Spuds. 28 pts, 23 rbs, and a win over your neighbor across the river. I am sure Christmas will be a little sweater for the Spuds after that WIN.
Colton Hagen Colton Hagen 6'4" | PG Moorhead | 2023 MN (2023) |6’4 PG|
25 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 4 triples, 5/7 FTs. He was really really good last night. Hagen controlled the tempo, did not get sped up, and he made good decisions. He might be a backcourt player, but Hagen still had a couple of blocked shots. He erased a shot on the first possession of the game and in the first possession of the second half. Colton had timely buckets throughout the game. He does not play crazy fast but was good about picking his spots to attack in transition. Hagen scored multiple points in fast-break situations. His first one came in the first half in a run-out situation. He had another one in the second half where he attacked the rim hard, took a hard hit, and finished after contact. The senior guard also scored in the halfcourt when attacking off the bounce. When shooting from deep, Colton showed a soft and accurate shot. He hit a monster 3 late in the first half. The shot clock was running down, Hagen realized it, attacked, and pulled up just as the shot clock expired and this shot put the Spuds up by 3 before the half. Hagan also did a nice job of making the easy pass and he was not bothered by pressure.
Dylan Zimmerman Dylan Zimmerman 6'5" | SF Moorhead | 2024 State MN (2024) |6’5 SG|
17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 triples, 9/10 FTs. I have never thought of him as a rim protector before, but Dylan was last night. Multiple times in the first half the Eagles got to the rim but Zimmerman was there to wall up and go straight up to contest and alter the shot. He also blocked multiple shots. It seems like Dylan likes the corners for 3-point shooting. Both of his triples came from the coffin corners. The last triple was very late in the game and it helped put the game on ice for the Spuds. Zimmerman made an impressive cut to show off his court awareness. He cut diagonally across the lane, caught, and scored before an Eagle could stop him. He was money from the charity stripe all game and Dylan knocked them down when it really mattered.
Davies
Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'2" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State #240 Nation ND (2025) |6’1 G|
28 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 6 steals, 2 triples, 8/10 FTs. This was game #2 for Klabo this season. His best was on display in the second half during the Eagle comeback. Throughout the game, Mason was fantastic at drawing contact and fouls from Spud defenders. He took a charge and he saved a ball from going out of bounds. In a close game, all those little things certainly help the cause. I am surprised he only ended up with 4 rebounds, Klabo is great on the glass and I love how he high-points the ball. He was very good at creating TO’s with anticipation and quick reactions. Mason had multiple AND1 finishes, you have to give credit to his concentration and strength on those buckets. He has a great hesitation move, crossover, change of speeds, and some shake that he uses to beat his defender. He was effective from deep but was at his best when slashing. He put in buckets when they really mattered. Klabo scored with a couple of reverse layups to help alleviate shot blockers. Very late, Mason rejected a ball screen, drove to the rim, and finished with a high-arcing shot over two defenders. This was a big shot at a pivotal point in the game. It was clear to see that Mason is a gamer. He worked hard on defense, especially when he was battling with Jenkins. It was not his best game ever, but Klabo was productive and he showed glimpses of greatness.
Daniel Yorke Daniel Yorke 6'1" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’1 G|
9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 3/4 FTs. He was matched up with Jenkins in the first half. Yorke battled and fought hard, but 6’1″ vs. 6’9″ is not an even matchup. Dan is a very good athlete and that was on display with a transition score and a few pull-up jumpers. He is really good going downhill and can stop on a dime for his pull-up. Yorke showed quick hands on defense with deflection, tips, and a strip steal. Yorke has a ton of potential with his slashing, pull-up game, and as a defender.
Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND (2023) |5’11 G|
15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 triple, 8/10 FTs. He is a fantastic athlete with speed, quickness, and body control. Ray made a highlight-reel-type play in the second half when he was recovering on defense. A Spud went up for a shot and Brown hammered the shot off the backboard to erase the shot attempt. You do not see 5’11” players doing something like that very often. His 3-point shot looked good, he only hit one, I wish Ray would shoot more. Brown does not force shots. He also scored in transition off a loose ball pick-up. Ray showed off a smooth floater from the front of the rim. Ray’s hustle was on display when he came from behind a dribbler and poked the ball out. Brown is an all-around athlete and an impactful player.
Cole Callies (2023) |5’11 G|
14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 4 triples. He was very effective from beyond the arc. Cole is not the biggest player on the court, but when you can shoot it like Callies, you do not need to be. Callies is great at stepping into the shot, his hands are always ready, and he has no wasted movement in his shot. Looking forward, the EDC teams will need to account for Cole and this will only open up things for the other Eagles. He was a nice surprise last night.
