The 16 team tournament featured 15 teams from NorCal and one from Redmond Washington who had to pull out because of flight cancellations at the last minute. Here we have our first group of players who we thought played well on the first day.
Payne played with good energy throughout the game. He’s a muscular prospect who’s improved his mid-range jump shot. He’s comfortable putting up shots from the free throw area, and using a dribble to get to the rim. He was one of the top rebounders on the day just missing a double double by two rebounds. His 21pts, and 8rebs, along with solid post play on both ends stood out.
Young is one of the leaders on this experienced group. He’s been consistent throughout the non-league. He’s contributing in different ways, his point production is up. He’s improved his 3pt shooting, his mid-range jumper is going in. His work on the boards are consistent, along with his ball handling, passing, and decision making. He’s a quality defender. He scored 18pts in one of the better games of the day.
Teyo Campbell
Teyo Campbell
He was the teams leading scorer at this event. He knocked down three 3ptrs for 9pts. He’s a good ball handling guard with a solid body to handle contact on the drive, and run the teams half-court offense. He sees the court well to make the extra pass up. He was a solid defender, with quick hands generating a few steels with his on ball defense.
Rene Ponce
Rene Ponce
Ponce is a big body post player who’s team relies on him to score on the block. He sets up well, he’s a nice big target, he has a good drop step move that’s hard to stop for anyone under 6’5 guarding him. He put up 19pts, but could have had many more if he would’ve converted his opportunities.
Michael Ballout

He was a solid contributor off the bench in this one sided game. He took advantage of his playing time going for 13pts to lead the team in scoring this game. He’s a hard playing guard with good speed on the court. He attacks the rim hard in transition. He has a decent jump shot. He’ll get a rebound, and defend with some tenacity. He’s a solid contributor.
Jeremyah Aquino

He and his twin Justin fit the description of confident guards zipping up the court causing havoc when they have the ball in their hands. No lead is safe with their fast pace style. He shows patience in half-court sets, when needed. He executes the pick and roll, penetrates and dish. He had good post entry passes, and he causes problems for ball handlers. He went for 16pts, two 3’s, multiple assists.
Charles Williams
Charles Williams
He was the most athletic players on the court in this game. He’s also a good football player. At 6’2 he uses his athletic ability, with a quick jump to grab rebounds and score in the paint. He handles well enough to attack from different angles with balance, and finish. He’s fast up the court and can finish above the rim in transition. He scored 12pts in the win.
Chase Miller

It was our first look at the guard who did a solid job of running the offense, and moving the ball when he wasn’t putting up shots. With a good look he can shoot the 3 ball pretty well. He hit 4 in this game. He’s effective playing at a fast pace, and always moving. He has a nice mid-range jumper off the dribble. His 21pts led the team.
