Brian Perry- Brian did what he does best, use his frame and strength to impose his will amongst the opponents. He made his presence known on both sides of the basketball which kept his team in the game. Although Brian can shoot the 3, he doesn’t settle for those, he makes sure he gets to his spots which is being the rim and his pull up jumper.
Tory Homan Tory Homan 6'7" | C Maize South | 2024 State KS – Tory is keeping the value in post players high with his production and causes for mismatches. His size and skill set around the rim made it tough for the opposing bigs and guards to finish around the rim. Not only did he do damage on the defensive end, he scored on the offensive end form either a dump off or from an offensive rebound.
Michael Kates Michael Kates 5'9" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS – Kates got the crowd alive with his and one 3s coming off those double screens and having a quick release. His off ball movement makes it extremely tough for the opposing guards to defend him. While he’s running off screens across the court, by the time you get there to guard him you’re already too tired to contest his 3. Kates scoring ability will be a huge factor for this maze south team moving forward.
Jaylen Maze Jaylen Maze 6'1" | PG Northwest | 2023 KS – Maze didn’t do much offensively but he caused havoc on the defensive end. His ability to guard multiple positions, fight through screens and to sit down every possession ready to defend, it’s rare you see much of this. His production on the defensive end will take alot of pressure off of the other guards for maize south because Jaylen has no problems defending your best player.
Isaiah Atwater Isaiah Atwater 5'8" | PG Maize South | 2023 State KS – Isaiah may be the ultimate playmaker and facilitator. Not looking to get his shot off much, he sure did set up Tory with those dump off passes and those drive and kicks to Michael Kates Michael Kates 5'9" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS . When timely possessions happened, Atwater got to his spot and went up right over the defense to score as if they wasn’t there. his ball handling, quickness and tempo dictates of the mavs play.
