Ja’Micah, out of everyone in this article, is probably the player whose stock is rising the most. At the time of this article and the rankings, he is the #3-ranked scorer in the nation. I have had several collegiate coaches reach out and ask just how good this kid is. Well, let me just say he is definitely worth the admission. He is a high-volume scorer that is also a high-volume shot-taker. Some question his size but make no mistake about it; he is a big-time scorer. It does not take long to see that scoring is the strength of his game, and because of his ability to score the rock, his team always has a chance. He is a three-level scorer with immense potential, and at this point, the question is how far can he lead Jeff-Davis in the post-season.
Justin McCall Justin McCall 6'3" | SF Grissom | 2024 State AL (6’2/G/Grissom HS)

Justin is a stout and physical guard that has seen a rise in the rankings and seen a lot more attention from collegiate coaches coming his way. He is a workhorse surrounded by many potent scorers, and he fits right in amongst the stable of guards that Coach Jack Doss can throw on the floor at any given time. Justin is able to fly under the radar due to playing with Alabama commit RJ Johnson RJ Johnson 6'3" | PG Grissom | 2023 State #215 Nation AL , which makes Justin a formidable threat to any opponent on Grissom’s schedule. He is a skilled scoring guard with a strong body and knows how to use it. He is highly competitive and does not shy away from making tough plays. Justin is a guard that gets downhill in a hurry with the ball in his hands and is a threat every time he touches the rock. He continues to elevate his game and is seeing favorable results in all areas.
Colton Echols Colton Echols 6'5" | PF Cullman | 2024 State AL (6’5/PF/Cullman)

Colton Echols Colton Echols 6'5" | PF Cullman | 2024 State AL has been the much-needed 3-point specialist that the defending state champions need. Some say that we have him ranked too high, but when you see how he has been playing thus far, you can see that it is a proper placement. His scoring is a valuable asset to a team that lost some point production from last year’s seniors. Colton has been able to focus on what he does best: creating his shot as a spot-up shooter and being a consistent source of perimeter shooting for his squad. He has been getting a lot of opportunities off the ball on offense due to the playmaking abilities of teammate Garrison Sharpe.
Tristan Gilmore Tristan Gilmore 6'3" | PF McAdory | 2024 State AL (6’4/PF/McAdory HS)

One of the most surprising players in the 2024 rankings is Tristan. He has been a bright spot for a team that is loaded with talent but has been underachieving. He has shown and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he’s in the top tier of scorers in his class. He’s arguably the best offensive weapon that McAdory has had early on, as he has been picking apart defenses with a blend of power, skill, and savvy. He is a relentless competitor that is steadily rising up the rankings and is doing it by filling up the stat sheet night in and night out with consistent production.
Chase James Chase James 5'11" | PG Spain Park | 2024 AL (5’11/PG/Spain Park)
Instagram: _chasejames_
Twitter: @chasejames4ptw
You can see in Chase’s game the maturation from last year to this year. He is more comfortable and confident at the lead guard spot and looks in total control of the Spain Park offense. Chase is a floor general armed with a scoring arsenal that he utilizes when needed. He is surrounded by a host of talent that can score, and Chase keeps them all happy with equal distribution. Chase is one of the reasons why Spain Park has emerged early as a contender for the state title. The success of the Jaguar is in the same hands that they trust to be the initiator of their offense, and that is Chase. He is a budding PG that has been excellent early.
Austen Childress Austen Childress 6'2" | SF Buckhorn | 2024 State AL (6’1/G/Buckhorn)
Instagram: austen.childress
Austen Childress Austen Childress 6'2" | SF Buckhorn | 2024 State AL shares the backcourt with one of the most dynamic young players in the nation Caleb Holt. He is a stout and athletic guard that can score the rock. He is forced to play inside at times which gets him out of rhythm, but when he is free to play to his strengths, he thrives in transition and getting to the rack off the bounce. His stock is rising amongst the 2024 class because with so much attention being given to Caleb, it frees up Austen to be a scoring threat. He has been showing the tools he has in his toolbox, and he will only get more opportunities as Caleb continues to demand the defense to focus a significant amount of attention on him.
Ben Evans Ben Evans 6'3" | SF Vestavia Hills HS | 2024 State AL (6’3/G|F/Vestavia Hills HS)

Ben Evans Ben Evans 6'3" | SF Vestavia Hills HS | 2024 State AL came on strong during camp season right before school started. I knew that I had to see if the production at the camps was just a fluke or if it was the real deal, and from seeing Ben early on, his game is the real deal. He is a highly athletic wing that flies around the court with a lot of energy and effort, making plays on both ends of the floor. His role continues to increase on the Rebels squad, and he is quickly becoming a name recognized in grassroots circles and among collegiate coaches. Ben is blossoming in his role on his team, and you can see his ball handling, playmaking, and scoring growing as the season progresses.
