Is one of the most historic basketball events in North Florida during the Holiday times. Started in 1991 with college teams then transitioned to high school in 2000. The two day event is special because of the significance that basketball was created on this very day. December 21st-22cd puts some of the best local area teams and South Georgia teams together under one roof.
Tahj Engram | 6’3 | Forward | 2023 | Godby
The senior forward finished with a strong 18 points and 7 rebounds for the cougars in Day 2. He lived in the paint all game with offensive rebounds and finishing strong from 5-10ft. Soft hands and showed his athleticism finishing through contact. Played extremely hard on both sides of the ball and played within himself. Big Body with a motor that does not stop.
Quantayveun Butler | 6’1 | Guard | 2023 | Gadsen County
The shifty guard from Gadsen County finished with 14 points and did it from 2 levels (Mid-range and Paint). On the defensive end he was stripping and causing chaos for his defenders. While on the offensive end breaking down his opposition with 1 to 2 move combinations. With his football regiment he wanted to get downhill and for his slim frame he absorbed contact pretty well playing off two feet. He is a blur on the court when going north and south, but will breakdown his defender with a strong base and understanding change of speed.
Thaddeus Burns Thaddeus Burns 6'2" | PG Florida High | 2023 State FL | 6’0 | Guard | 2023 | FSUS
The do it all guard did not have the best night scoring the ball. He did show the composure to understand how to still make an impact on the game without scoring. The Senior guard led on the defensive end taking multiple charges and setting the tone using his voice to communicate defensive assignments. He did show the ability to initiate the offense when need be and create for others by getting pass his defender with plenty of dribble combinations in his arsenal.
Christian Johnson Christian Johnson 6'7" | SF Florida High | 2023 FL | 6’8 | Forward | 2023 | FSUS
The Senior forward fresh off the football field made his presence felt in the paint by walling up leading to multiple blocked shots. His basketball IQ and feel for the game is god given and once he gets into basketball shape I can see him making a bigger impact for his group, helping them potentially make another run at a state title. Long arms and an above average passer for his size. If he can add a consistent Right hand jump hook and 5-10ft jumper. We could see Florida High become very scary for teams in the playoffs.
Chadwick Spencer | 6’3 | Forward | 2023 | Marianna
The smooth shooting lefty showed he is just not an athlete playing basketball. Knocking down multiple threes and showing he can get to the free throw and line and knock them down going 4-4 on the day. With a really strong frame and athletic enough to guard multiple positions including the bigger guys on the block. His football pedigree came into playing holding his ground and using his quick hands to deflect passes. He has good hips and able to change directions with the ball in hands when he had the opportunity. Plays baseball as well, but if he truly wanted to I could see him playing basketball on the next level with improved skill development.
