Drew Edmond Drew Edmond 6'0" | PG Brookfield Central | 2023 State WI — Brookfield Central
Because Brookfield Central lost a lot of talent from last season, Edmond will enter the upcoming season with an expanded role. The point guard is a tremendous two-way prospect who always seems to step up and make a big play when his team needs it most. On defense, Edmond is fully capable of shutting down the opposing squad’s best scorer. On offense, the PG is a solid floor general who can do a little bit of everything. Moving forward, I would certainly suggest that college programs keep an eye on Edmond.
Trent Mullen Trent Mullen 5'11" | PG Appleton North | 2023 State WI — Appleton North
Poised to become a major contributor for Appleton North this season, Mullen is a prospect to watch this winter. As a scorer, the point guard is extremely versatile and fun to watch. He handles the ball well, makes tough shots, and is able to score from all spots on the court. Mullen also plays the game with a very high IQ. The A-North standout is very patient with the ball in his hands. He simply takes what the defense gives him and makes the right basketball play. He isn’t the flashiest or most exciting player, but Mullen certainly gets the job done.
Mateo Jimenez Mateo Jimenez 5'10" | PG Edgewood | 2023 State WI — Edgewood
One of the better pure shooters in the state, Jimenez is able to drain some deep shots. The Edgewood point guard’s ability to knock down outside shots puts a lot of pressure and stress on opposing defenses. He has a quick release and does a good job of moving without the ball. Jimenez is so much more than just a sharpshooter, though. He is also a skilled passer and playmaker. When he slashes into the paint, Jimenez does an excellent job of locating open teammates.
Danny Staskunas Danny Staskunas 6'1" | PG West Allis Hale | 2023 State WI — West Allis Hale
I really think that Staskunas could develop into one of the better prospects in the state when it is all said and done. The West Allis Hale point guard is just so solid everywhere. He can score, pass, rebound, and play tough defense. This past high school season, I was particularly impressed with the maturity that Staskunas played with. He just has a great feel for the game. The PG knows when to pick his spots. He scores when the opportunity presents itself and passes when he needs to.
Braylen Blue Braylen Blue 6'3" | PG Madison Memorial | 2023 State WI — Madison Memorial
Possessing limitless potential, Blue is certainly in line for a breakout season. Because I still don’t believe that the Madison Memorial prospect has played his best basketball yet, he is a name that college programs should keep an eye on. Standing at 6-foot-4, Blue owns great positional size for a point guard. He does a solid job of using this size to see over the defense and find open teammates. Blue is an outstanding passer who has the rare ability to thread the needle through tight spaces.
Collin Madson Collin Madson 6'4" | PG Mukwonago | 2023 State WI — Mukwonago
A versatile prospect who can do a little bit of everything on the court, Madson is the embodiment of what a true point guard should look like. On the court, Madson is able to lead by example. He always plays hard and seems to make big-time plays when his squad needs it. Extremely talented as a passer and scorer, Madson has no problem shouldering the load for his team. He can lead his team in scoring or lead his team in assists on any given night.
