Potential Division I Signees to watch in Louisiana

With the Division I signing period beginning November 9th, there will be a lot of players around the country in the class of 2023 signing with the college of their choice. In Louisiana, the early signing period looks like it will be a quiet one. Even with the period being uneventful in the Boot, there is no time like the present to look at potential Division I signees in the state. These players will be some of the hottest commodities when the regular signing period begins in April.

Possible signings

There may be one player that potentially signs during the early period and that would be Scotlandville big man Dorian Booker Dorian Booker 6'10" | PF Scotlandville | 2023 State LA . He is the only top ten player currently playing in Louisiana to commit thus far. His commitment to the Privateers of UNO will be a very good fit for him.

Players who have received Division I offers

The players above have played on some of the best teams in Louisiana. They have combined for five state titles and nine trips to Marsh Madness which is very impressive to say the least.

Lockett has had offers from several Power 6 schools as well as others. He is one of the best players in the country and has been a top 100 recruit. Hardy turned a lot of heads at Peach Jam this summer. Couple that with the season he had at Zachary and he has picked up a number of offers as well. Jordan Trahan Jordan Trahan 6'4" | SG Country Day | 2023 State LA and Decedric Webb Decedric Webb 6'5" | SF Huntington | 2023 State LA had great showings at JSE Top 100 showcase in June and have fielded DI offers since. Jamaria Clark Jamaria Clark 6'2" | CG Doyline | 2023 State LA had a lot of showcase success along with playing on the Prep Hoops circuit and has heard from several mid to low majors as well.

Jaylon Hicks Jaylon Hicks 6'5" | SF Carver | 2023 State LA is as battle tested as they come in Louisiana. He is a three level scorer who has improved on the defensive end and has been in big game situations. This should lead to a few offers. Point guards are always at a premium on the next level and Canin Jefferson Canin Jefferson 6'1" | PG Newman | 2023 State LA and Kam Johnson Kam Johnson 5'9" | PG Archbishop Shaw | 2023 State LA are two of the best in the Boot. Both guards showed success playing against bigger competition on the Nike circuit and are proven big game performers. De’Vion Lavergne De’Vion Lavergne 6'3" | CG North Central | 2023 State LA was another player who garnered interest at the JSE Top 100. He can play both guard positions and his defensive effort is top tier. It will be hard to see him not receiving a DI offer. Cardez Norman Cardez Norman 6'6" | PF Sterlington | 2024 LA rebounds the ball like a grown man and he is a finisher around the rim. His physique translates well to the next level and will be a window cleaner wherever he lands. Teams can never have enough shooting. Elliot McQuillan Elliot McQuillan 6'2" | SG Port Allen | 2023 State LA fills that need and he can defend. Athletic slashers who are good in transition fit on a lot of teams. Shad Levy Shad Levy 6'3" | CG Dunham | 2023 State LA is a player who may end up on a DI roster because that is his strength.

The season has not begun so there is plenty of time to still land a Division I offer for the players above and others within the Louisiana rankings. Jalen Bolden showed a ton of people that they can play their way into the right offer within a season. With the number of recent preps playing on Division I rosters around the country, there is no reason to think that Louisiana will not have several players from the 2023 class land on one.
