I was able to attend the Friday slate of games at St Bernard and here’s a look at some of the top point guards I saw.
1. Joey Chammaa – SoCal Academy Black 2023
Chammaa was one of the more complete point guards at the event. He knows when to look for his shot and knows when to pass the ball. He may not be that tall compared to other guards but it doesn’t effect his game at all. He’s comfortable putting the ball on the floor and making plays in the halfcourt. Runs the break well too. He sees the floor and finds the open teammate, good lob passer. Consistent shooter from three-point range. Strong on-ball defense.
2. Khemani Davis – LA Premier Prep Black 2023
Davis is a big guard who played the point guard role for his team. He’s a good ball-handler and looks to make the right play and the extra pass. He has a scoring arsenal as well. He uses his size to score over smaller defenders and he has a good shot. Shoots the three-ball consistently off the catch. He can put the ball on the floor and shoot off the dribble. He can pull-up and knock down the midrange or create separation for a step-back jumper.

– SoCal Academy 2023
Felton is another big guard who can play the point role. He ran the offense well with the ball in his hands and got to his spots on the court. He can dribble into the pull-up and likes to shoot from the elbows. He can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. One of the better three-point shooters at the event. Consistent off the catch, squares up well with good release. Ability to play off-ball as well.
4. Aaron Butler – Compton Dominguez 2023
Butler was a solid floor leader. Good ball-handler who does well in the pick and roll finding his screeners diving to the rim. He pushes the pace well in transition and keeps the defense on its heels. Consistently beat his defender off the dribble and he can either finish at the rim with a little floater or kick the ball to the open teammate. Sees cutters around the rim and open shooters. Able to finish strong at the rim through contact.
