SubscribeWe’ve spent a lot of time analyzing guards this week, so now we turn to the big men under the boards for the rest of the week. The players listed below are set to lead their teams on the glass and in the post offensively.
Quatrell Wilson Quatrell Wilson 6'5" | SF Newark East Side | 2023 State NJ | 6’6” | F| Newark East Side
Wilson was a go to guy as a junior for the Raiders. Co-Coaches Bryant Garvin and Anthony Tavares had an incredibly young team and Wilson was a leader. He’s long, lean and very athletic. He can run the floor like a point guard and is also good with the ball in his hands. He plays tough on ball defense and is a good rebounder at both ends. He had several noteworthy games as a junior, including 22 vs West Essex, 15 vs Irvington and 16 vs University. He’ll be one of the best frontcourt players in Essex County, regardless of class….and could really be an impactful player at the next level when a coach gets him into a collegiate weight program and packs some muscle on his still-filling-out frame.
Donovan McKoy Donovan McKoy 6'6" | SF St. Joseph (Mont.) | 2023 State NJ | 6’6” | F | St Joe’s Montvale
A two sport star with a gridiron future, McKoy had a fantastic junior year as a basketball player. He’s an elite athlete and utilizes his explosiveness from his football talents when he attacks the basket and goes at defenders—whom he can break down off the bounce or simply outmuscle down low—but he can also hit shots from around the perimeter and draw defenders from the rim, making him very tough to stop. He had 22 vs Wayne Valley and 20 vs DePaul. If he wanted to, McKoy could have been a scholarship basketball player too.
Sherif Guinyard Sherif Guinyard 6'6" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State NJ , 6’6 SF St. Thomas Aquinas 2023
A talented football player who is also an athletic wing on the basketball team, Guinyard is at his best in the open floor scoring baskets in transition. He’s got a big frame and football strength so he can easily play through contact. He hits the boards hard at both ends of the court and is a key role player for the powerful, guard heavy Trojans team. His future also lies on the gridiron but he’s an all-county basketball prospect as well.
Roman Santos Roman Santos 6'5" | SF South River | 2023 State NJ | 6’5” | F| South River
South River is going to have high expectations this winter and Santos will be doing a lot of lifting in the frontcourt. He averaged 15 PPG as a junior and is a strong forward who can take players to the perimeter to keep them honest and away from the rim, then break them down but also can battle on the low block. D3 schools should be paying attention to him and he’ll be part of a very balanced Rams team that has 5 college ballplayers in the starting lineup.
Quinn Peters

Peters

Manasquan | 2023
State
NJ
| 6’6” | F | Manasquan
Peters will be tasked with providing maturity and poise as a key senior on a young but incredibly deep Squan team. He’s capable of playing multiple positions in the front court—Versatile player who can play in the paint and throw his weight around under the rim if needed but showed this summer on the AAU circuit that he’s very capable, if not more comfortable, floating around the perimeter and letting it rip from beyond the arc. He’s got a high release point and good form on his jumper which makes him tough to defend–He can beat you down low or take you outside. He’ll be an important player for guard heavy Manasquan this winter and could be an All Shore prospect in the frontcourt.
