Kayde Dotson Kayde Dotson 6'2" | PG Beaumont United | 2024 State #194 Nation TX 2024 6’4 Beaumount United High School
Kayde was very impressive during his time on the court this weekend, filling it up from all three levels of the floor and scoring at will off the bounce. He pulled up in transition if his opposition did not stop the ball, instantly making them pay for a missed shot. I was very impressed by how easily he made it all look in transition, speeding up the tempo did not affect his game- if anything it made him more dynamic. Dotson showed a tremendous ability to lock up defensively as well, taking on a talented guard in AJ Bates, and forcing him into very tough looks all game. Dotson moves his feet well to stop the ball, and uses his length as a real weapon as he takes on ball handlers 94 feet. Kayde plays the game at a very high level on both ends of the court, and has a determined and non-stop motor every time he steps onto the hardwood. Dotson played for John Lucas’ EYBL team this summer and is showing tremendous signs of improvement in all aspects of his game.
O’Marion Harvey O’Marion Harvey 6'7" | SF St. Francis Episcopal | 2025 State #381 Nation TX 2025 6’6 St Francis Episcopal High School
O’Marion is rising up the ranking’s with his performance this weekend, ferociously throwing down dunks in transition, knocking down every shot off the catch and really leading his team from the wing spot. His teammates look for him to calmly take the ball over and get a good shot, as he can score at will anywhere on the court. What makes him a special prospect is his fluidity at that size, he can dynamically handle the ball and get to his spot anywhere on the court, or attack the basket and throw it down on a defender. His aggressiveness with a live dribble is a real weapon and it allows him to get downhill with ease, bumping off of defenders, and absorbing contact as he finishes at the rim. I was very impressed by his shot mechanics and how efficient he was from beyond the arc, consistently knocking down shots off the catch from all around the arc. I even noticed him laughing as he caught the ball, knowing defender’s left him too much space to shoot it. St Francis Episcopal is a real power house with young talent, so if you are in the Houston area try and get out to see these guys within the next few years, they will put on a SHOW.
Chase Cain Chase Cain 6'7" | PF Shadow Creek | 2023 State TX 2023 6’6 Shadow Creek High School
Chase is a do it all wing/ forward who is a determined finisher, willing passer and a fluid finisher! Cain has been anchoring Shadow Creek’s defense for the past two years, and continues to be a force on this side of the ball. He is a stout presence on the interior, with an ability to anchor your team’s defense as a small ball center. He is a determined defender, cutting off driving angles with ease and blocking shots at the rim.Now he is being tasked with doing a bit more offensively, and is doing so at a high level. He is attacking the basket hard out of the triple threat, exploding towards the rim and taking on smaller defenders every time they are switched onto him. He is also finding his teammates on the perimeter with pinpoint passes, both out of the post and even some tough passes wrapping around his defender’s back after he had left his feet. Chase has all of the physical tools to be an anchoring small ball 5 but has also showed the versatility to become a dynamic two way slashing 3 or 4 at the next level.
Bryce Smith 2023 6’1 Barbers Hill High School
Bryce was maestro during his time on the court, calmly orchestrating his team’s offense, setting up shooters and dominating at the rim. Every time I see him, I am blown away by his willingness to do the dirty work on the court, scrapping for loose balls and long rebounds, sliding over to protect the rim, tying up ball handlers as a help defender, and just wreaking havoc with how hard he plays the game. His non stop engine allows him to fly up and down the court, pushing the tempo on the fast break, or racing the other way to chase you down. He is a fearless finisher, who is willing to leap and throw down on anyone in front of him, including a 6’10 forward! Watching Bryce Smith compete is always a treat with how hard he plays, never taking a possession off and really leading his team. His natural point guard instincts are always evident in his passes, but more importantly his on and off court leadership, and his lead by example nature to his character and game. Whoever takes a shot on Bryce Smith at the next level is sure to get their money’s worth…
Joseph “JoJo” Tugler 2023 6’8 Cypress Falls High School
Joseph has really developed well over the last two years, adding a ton of strength and becoming a truly determined finisher in the paint. I was very impressed by how routinely he collected rebounds but also how quickly he was able to spin off of a defender into a drop step dunk. He made freakish plays look WAY too easy! He has a great motor underneath the basket, scrapping and clawing for every inch of positioning on both ends of the floor. He takes pride in affecting the game through the interior, and is the embodiment of “board man gets paid” with how much attention he pays to clearing the glass. He naturally finishes through contact, never seeming to be bothered by it. Tugler is a dominant forward prospect who will make some noise at the University of Houston due to how hard he plays down low, even without the basketball. It is not surprising Coach Sampson got another SCRAPPER on the interior!
