SubscribeCheck out my analysis on some of the top 2023 wing prospects who have really been making noise through their stellar play this fall! I have been traveling all over Texas all October, and here is my list of some of the top performers since we wrapped up Summer Ball!
James Cloud 2023 6’4 Prosper High School
James is a physical freak who can clean the glass, defend on the ball, scrap and finish at the rim or catch and shoot. He does not need to have the ball in his hands to effect the game, constantly making his mark defensively and how well he attacks the glass. He gets a lot of easy looks just off of his energy and how he flies around the court, and all of his teammates reward his energy by keeping their head up to find him whenever they could. He is an undersized wing prospect likely, but his versatility will allow him to play next to a smaller ball dominant guard and have success. He can do it all; lock up the best guard on the other team, catch and shoot, rebound and make the unselfish plays time and time again. Cloud’s versatility is sure to turn college coaches attention his way this season, I can guarantee that!
Jaylen Corcker – Johnson 2023 6’7 Warren High School
Jaylen has really improved his handle over the last year, and is an incredibly dominant player who knows how to use his size and strength to his advantage down low. He uses his length to finish over smaller defenders in the post when necessary and displayed the skill to dominate slower defenders on the perimeter. He dominates getting downhill and can seemingly bully his way through any contact. He has an incredibly impressive amount of agility for his size. Last year when I saw him in action and was blown away by his ability to run the floor as a rim runner or as the primary ball handler, pushing the pace himself. He consistently made the right reads when he had the ball in his hands. He scored at a consistent rate in the mid-range and beyond the arc which allowed the paint to be that much more open for him to dominate later in the game. What makes him an intriguing wing prospects is his ability to play alongside another big man due to his ability to dominate at all three levels.
Myles Rigsby Myles Rigsby 6'5" | CG O.D. Wyatt | 2023 State TX 2023 6’5 OD Wyatt High School
Myles is a crazy athlete who can absolutely fly towards the rim, with a handle and a confidence and swagger he plays the game with. I was very impressed by how calm he is operating on the perimeter, calmly taking opponents off the bounce and getting to his spots. He easily takes defenders off the bounce and can shift your weight with one dribble and rise up in your face. I have been very impressed with how well he has played this summer and coming into his senior year, showing off an ability to play on or off the ball. He plays alongside another skilled guard, and consistently shows off his versatility and willingness to defend and catch and shoot if necessary.
Larry Lyons 2023 6’4 Dawson High School
Larry has really taken a leap this off season, and it is showing in how much he is dominating fall ball, fulfilling the role as his team’s primary option scoring and knifing through the defense at will. I am very impressed in the leap that I have seen from Lyons since last year, looking much more fluid with his handle and showing a real ability to create separation off the dribble. He loves getting to the rim and finishes at a high clip through contact and on either side of the rim, showing real expertise as a slasher. He takes pride in finishing on the fast break before the defense can get set or the big has a chance of coming over to contest. He routinely finishes over other guards, making him a dynamic weapon in transition. He made good use of his catch and shoot opportunities this weekend, and Lyon has good shot mechanics and is a very consistent free throw shooter! If he begins to knock down looks from beyond with more consistency, he could make a real impact at the next level with his intense and aggressive play style.
