Dontrell Watson Dontrell Watson 6'0" | PG Manor | 2024 TX 2024 6’0 Manor High School
Highlights
Dontrell is a gritty point guard who affects the game on both ends of the court through his intensity and willingness to do the little things, such as get on the glass and dive on the floor for loose balls, but more importantly defend at a high level. He showed an ability to play on and off the ball, but really thrives with the ball in his hands, getting downhill and knocking down shots. He is a fearless scorer who can get his shot off over anyone from beyond the arc, and his hard work and intensity allow him to wear out his defender, even when he does not have the ball. His motor is already on a college level, which is always fun to watch. His willingness to compete to the hardest of his abilities every time he steps on the court is going to give him a shot at the next level. I would like to see him look to create more out of the triple threat, and work on not over dribbling and using minimal bounces to get to his spots. Once he begins to slow the game down mentally, and understand how easily he can manipulate his defender just because they are expecting him to go a hundred miles an hour through their chest. Watson also boasts a 4.0 GPA college coaches…
Treyvon Dancer Treyvon Dancer 5'10" Frisco | 2024 TX 2024 5’10 Frisco High School
Treyvon is an aggressive guard who specializes on turning defense into offense and really defends at a high level. His willingness to pick up all 92 feet of the court really stood out, as he forced ball handlers into turnovers and mistakes. However how Dancer really sets himself apart is his willingness to always make the right basketball play, with and without the ball. He willingly cuts backdoor for easy looks for himself or just to draw the defense’s attention for a split second. I loved watching him produce offense through his drive and kick abilities, successfully getting himself and his defender’s two feet in the paint and kicking it out to an open shooter. He had a plethora of plays where he made the right pass, and then all his teammate had to do was simply swing the ball for an open shot. His overall basketball IQ and willingness to make the right play was incredibly special!
Kasen Hastings Kasen Hastings 6'0" | PG Krum | 2024 State TX 2024 6’0 Krum High School
Highlights
Kasen is an aware point guard who displayed all of the necessary skills to run an offense, he sees the floor at an extremely high level and sets up his teammates very well within a half court setting. Time after time, he set up his teammates (that he had never met before today) with wide open looks due to his awareness and willingness to pass the ball to a spot that he knew they would be in. He made impressive cross court passes over the top of the defense, and always seemed to be absolutely punishing the defense with his overall IQ every time I looked over to his court. I was impressed by his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and make the right reads to set up his team for easy looks, either from dump off passes or on the weak side. He has improved his aggressiveness and willingness to hunt for his own shot since the last time I saw him, but is not overly aggressively, simply taking what the defensive gives him like how a point guard should!
Cameron Mennsfield 2024 5’8 McKinney North High School
Cameron is a special point guard prospect for how easily he is able to get up and down the court with his handle, but also how willing he is to play on the fast break and create opportunities for himself and his teammates off of his aggression. He calmly knifes through the defense with his handle, getting into the paint time and time again. He always has his head up after a rebound, and loves taking the ball coast to coast if the defense does not stop the ball. Mennsfield punished the defense routinely for relaxed coverage on the fast break, but when it came down to it, he showed an ability to make the right extra pass to set up a cutting teammate or a shooter in the corner. He also displayed an ability to play out of the pick and roll, using tight in and out crossovers to run his man into the screen and get to the rim. I would like to see him work on his creation out of the pick and roll, and would really like to see how he plays alongside a more consistent big man.
