I was able to attend the event for most of the day on Sunday Oct. 23 and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Tyler Hunt

– Venice 2024
Hunt is one of the better wings in the LA area. He’s a very good rebounder for a guard, sneaks in for offensive rebounds and put-back opportunities. Good ball-handler who consistently beats his defender off the dribble. Able to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line and can finish through traffic. Uses screens well and attacks the switch. Comfortable in creating his own shot.
2. Jason Van Horn – AOSS Prep 2024
Van Horn was one of the best shooters at the event. He consistently knocked down the three-ball and likes to shoot the corner three. Squares up well and gets his feet set. Particularly good shooting off the catch. He can handle the ball too has a little playmaking to his game. Can hit defenders with a nice crossover. Also is able to attack the closeout and get into the paint. Able to finish at the basket through traffic.
3.
Marcus Adams, Jr.

– Narbonne 2023
Adams is a talented forward with good size. He can handle the ball and is comfortable making plays off the dribble. Can see the floor and has a size advantage over the defense. Plays well in transition. With the ball in his hands he can shoot off the dribble or he can get all the way to basket and finish strong. He also looks comfortable playing in the post. He has the tools to be a strong defensive player.
4. Johann Kwon – Sunny Hills 2023
Kwon has good size for a wing. He can handle the ball and he can pass well. One of the things that stood out the most was his activity on the glass. Boxes out well and puts himself in position to rebound. Able to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line where he shoots it at a good clip. Uses shot fakes to draw fouls. He moves well without the ball making cuts along the baseline. Good off-ball screener.
