If you want to see the All Senior teams, you can do so here.
Who was the guard who just missed making the list?
Jack: Sam Brannen of King’s Fork. He was an All State selection last year and is the leading scorer returning for a King’s Fork team who will make another run at a state championship. He’s going to put up big numbers as a scorer and a facilitator, there were just so many guards to consider and unfortunately he was just left out.
Adam: Khalil Williams Khalil Williams 6'5" | SG Potomac (McLean, VA) | 2023 State VA of Potomac School. He will produce big numbers, but his team’s success will dictate where he fall on this list come postseason.
Who was the wing/forward who ended up on the outside looking in?
Jack: Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'9" | C Collegiate | 2023 State VA of Collegiate. Smith is one of the more versatile players in the state at his position, but the question of how competitive this good Collegiate team will be in the stacked VISAA D1 played a role. There’s also the question of if he will put up the gaudy scoring numbers some others will, which isn’t a bad thing because his game is much more than just scoring the ball. Tough one to leave out.
Adam: Paul Anderson Paul Anderson 6'3" | SG South County | 2023 State VA of South County. There’s no question he is one of the better players in the northern region. He was a tough omission from the initial list.
3. Who was the toughest player to place on the list?
Jack: For me, Abingdon’s Evan Ramsey Evan Ramsey 7'0" | C Abingdon | 2023 State VA because he’s been injured and we don’t know what to fully expect from him. As a sophomore he led Abingdon to a state championship appearance and looked like one of the best up and coming prospects in SWVA. If he can get back to that level they’ll be a tough team to stop this year.
Adam: Probably AJ Clark AJ Clark 6'2" | SG Menchville | 2023 State VA . An argument was made for him to be on the second team, but we settled on third given the depth of talent on his squad.
