Prep Hoops Season Predictions:
Calhoun Falls Charter – The Blue Flashes have a solid nucleus back to win the region this year.
McCormick HS – The Chiefs finished (11-9) and have the Region Player of the Year is A’Chean Durant A’Chean Durant 5'10" | CG McCormick | 2023 SC on the roster.
Dixie HS – Can the Hornets improve on a (9-14) season?
Ware Shoals HS – The Fighting Hornets will rely on Lavarious Posley to provide scoring.
Whitmire HS – The Wolverines finished (4-12) last year. Can Jacob Dickerson and Ki-Mani Mealing provide a spark this season?
South Carolina School Deaf & Blind –
Durant has received plenty of football interest which makes plenty of sense. A’Chean a running back in the Chiefs backfield was recently selected for the North-South Football Game down in Myrtle Beach in December. Durant shows to have good body control and a toughness to finish at the basket. His older brother Mataeo finished a career at Duke University last season as a running back where he finished his career with 2,562 career yards.
Durant is the Prep Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year this season.
Turman plays for his father Head Coach Shawn Turman on the Flashes roster. Ty sees the floor well from out top and rarely ever turns the ball over from the lead guard position. Turman can connect from the perimeter and when he does that, he’s looking to shoot the 3-ball.
Jared Ledbetter
Jared Ledbetter
Ledbetter is back to lead the Hornets who finished (9-14) last season. Jared will be counted on to lead the team on and off the floor.
Lewis is nicknamed “Fudge” for the Flashes. Daquean brings very versatility to the floor and can play multiple positions out on the perimeter. Lewis can slash to the bucket or connect on a bomb from 3-point range. Daquean shows to have a quick shot release from downtown. Lewis also plays football this fall for the Flashes.
Durant is an undersized post player who likes to play the game on contact. Camden started off his career at Calhoun Falls Charter before coming to the rivals Chiefs down the road. Durant plays Linebacker in the fall for the Chiefs on the football field. The closer to the basket Camden is the better his game is for the Chiefs.
Sutton saw plenty of time last season for the Flashes. Trey can play face-up to the basket or post-up down low with his back to the basket. Sutton ran on the Grassroots Circuit this past summer with Next Level. He’s very nimble with his mobility around the court.
Lavarious Posley will be a name to follow this coming season for Ware Shoals HS. Posley showed some good glimpses last season for the Fighting Hornets. Posley is a small forward and a member of the 2023 class.
