Preseason POY: Dennis Parker Dennis Parker 6'6" | SF John Marshall | 2023 State #89 Nation VA | 6’6” WF | John Marshall ‘23
The nationally ranked wing is coming off a great summer on the 3SSB Circuit with Team Loaded, and while he’s shown over the past few years he’s the best player in Richmond he has taken his game to another level as of late. He’s capable of impacting the game across the board and on both ends of the floor with his athleticism, he can handle the ball and is a very good slasher and finisher around the rim and he plays with a great motor for someone who is as highly touted a prospect as he is.
Curtis Blair | 6’5” WF | Steward School ’23
Blair could challenge Parker for player of the year, as the Liberty commit is coming off of a big summer with VA Havoc and has had a good fall as well in CBG events and in the Steward Fall League. He’s a smooth scorer who may not be the quickest but knows how to get to spots in the midrange and has great balance to make contested shots, he can knock down shots from deep and when he gets it going he’s very tough to guard.
Yuri Manns Yuri Manns 6'3" | CG LC Bird | 2023 State VA | 6’3” WG | LC Bird ’23
Manns could end up as the top scorer in Richmond and one of the top in the state, as he averaged over 20 last year as a junior and now will be leaned upon even more to score the ball this year. An All-State selection as a junior, Manns is wired to score the ball and has improved in his athleticism and ball handling to create and finish around the rim, he can score it from deep and has improved in his ability to shoot it off the bounce and he has an excellent midrange game too.
Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'9" | C Collegiate | 2023 State VA | 6’8” PF | Collegiate ’23
Smith is one of the more underrated available prospects on the east coast in my opinion, and the way he played this summer makes me think he’ll be one of the top players in the Richmond area this year. The 6’8” forward is an inside-out threat who can post up and score it with either hand in the paint, he can step out and make shots from deep and he’s an excellent passer whether it’s on the perimeter or in the paint or even on outlet passes too.
Leland Coleman Leland Coleman 6'6" | SF Trinity Episcopal | 2023 State VA | 6’5” WF | Trinity Episcopal ’23
Coleman had a big summer with Team Richmond and looks much more confident as a scorer than he did in past years, and that is what he’s needed as he’s always been an athletic defender and finisher too. He looks more confident handling the basketball and creating shots on the perimeter, he thrives in transition where he can play above the rim consistently and when he plays with energy he’s one of the most productive players on the floor.
Logan Rhoades Logan Rhoades 6'2" | CG Mills Godwin | 2023 State VA | 6’2” WG | Mills Godwin ’23
Rhoades comes back to Godwin after taking a year at Blue Ridge, and he’ll have the green light to score the ball and with his ability to shoot it I wouldn’t be surprised if he put up big numbers this year. The 6’2” shooting guard has a deep range and a quick release from deep as he sets his feet and will let it fly, he can put it on the deck and get in the lane where he can draw contact and get to the line and he can get hot quickly and fill it up in bunches.
