Continue ReadingAlthough it’s already been a week and a half since the Oregon Top 250 Expo, our coverage of the event here on Prep Hoops is not done yet. For the rest of this week, we will take a look at each individual roster, breaking down this huge crop of talent from around the Pacific Northwest, player-by-player.
Here’s a look at Team Eight:
Andre Niko Andre Niko 6'4" | SF The Dalles | 2024 OR (2024 The Dalles)
Niko was one of the more intriguing players we watched at the Expo. The undersized big man certainly created space inside with his bulk and strength but was nimble enough to run the floor, handle the ball, and was a willing passer. He was spotlighted in both our “Top Big Men” and “Top Athletes” articles.
Trent Carlton (2024 Amity)
Carlton didn’t get a ton of looks offensively but finished plays well inside for a guard. Defensively, he did a good job staying with his man individually and showed good motor overall.
Diego Aguilar Diego Aguilar 5'10" | PG Regis | 2023 OR (2023 Regis)
A transfer to Regis from Jefferson (OR) for his senior season, Aguilar will likely be one of the top players in 2A this season. At the event he showed real hustle on the defensive end.
Chase Mcdonald (2024 Putnam)
A talented all-around scorer and passer, McDonald had some solid performances at the event. The 5-foot-10 guard from Putnam showed he could sink the outside shot but also create off the dribble to get to the hoop for himself and for others.
Dominic Papworth Dominic Papworth 6'2" | CG Franklin | 2024 State OR (2024 Franklin)
Papworth was aggressive offensively and displayed a mastery of the mid-range pull-up. An underrated athlete, he also showcased off his hops with one impressive drive and dunk in transition in one game. He earned mention in our “Top Shooters” and “Top Scorers” articles.
Abraham Taylor Abraham Taylor 6'2" | SF Summit | 2026 State OR (2026 Summit)
The younger brother of Summit junior Miguel, Taylor had some nice moments at the Expo. The lefty hit a couple of threes and in general, played hard on both ends especially on the boards and on defense.
Brayden Boe Brayden Boe 6'5" | CG Mountainside | 2025 State #254 Nation OR (2025 Mountainside)
Boe was a near unanimous pick as one of the top performers at the Expo. The 6-foot-3 guard pretty much did it all, from scoring to passing to rebounding. This was all coming off of playing in a football game the night before as well. One of the elite prospects in the state from the Class of 2025.
Charlie Saxton Charlie Saxton 6'0" | CG Mountainside | 2024 State OR (2024 Mountainside)
A hard-working guard, Saxton played solid all-around team basketball. He was focused on making the extra pass, going after loose balls, and getting down and dirty on defense.
Kamar Benbo Kamar Benbo 6'3" | SG Parkrose | 2024 State OR (2024 Benson)
Benbo was one of the top athletes in the gym – as indicated by his mention in our “Top Athletes” article. He had a quick first step to get to the hoop and also showed that he had the range to hit threes. Benbo is a high volume scorer that should give Benson some offensive punch this upcoming season.
