I viewed 10 teams with eight Varsity and two Junior Varsity.
Here were some of the junior standouts on the day: (A few new prospects)
Keyan Murphy Keyan Murphy 6'4" | SF Centennial | 2024 State AZ Centennial
A new one for me is a bigger wing shooter with long arms. He uses his length on defense to play the passing lanes. He has one of the prettier ball rotations out there. He can drive to the basket with a little shift in his handle and he is a decent passer.
Dequan Bryant Dequan Bryant 6'2" | SF Apollo | 2024 State AZ Apollo
Another new player is a wing who looks to breakout this season. He should be their third offensive weapon behind seniors Lashy and Bobby. He can hit the catch three plus he handles the ball fairly well with decent strength to score in the paint.
Noah Gifft Noah Gifft 6'2" | SG Ironwood | 2024 State AZ Ironwood
A scoring guard who is a top of the food chain catch and shoot three point shooter. He may be the top junior shooter in the AIA. He will take a charge and moves the ball to make the extra pass. He relocates to open spots in the defense.
Nathan Wanjohi Nathan Wanjohi 6'6" | PF Phhoenix Prep | 2024 AZ Ironwood
A versatile wing forward who is a very efficient scorer from inside the paint. His length bothers his opponents in the passing lanes and he will block shots and grab out of area rebounds.
TJ Clark TJ Clark 6'5" | SF Sequoia Charter | 2024 State AZ Millennium (Pictured)
A good sized wing is slowly getting settled into his new school. He is improving his skill and is developing a pet move with a crossover into a mid range jumper. He makes his money with his versatility on defense as he can rebound and block shots inside.
Ezias Steffen Ezias Steffen 6'4" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ Millennium
Another transfer came over from Chandler. He is tough, skilled and physical. He can score it from inside and out. He works well in the paint with his toughness to score over bigger players and he can crossover his defender and shoot it from the perimeter.
Sam Franklin Sam Franklin 6'1" | SG Millennium | 2024 State AZ Millennium
The last new prospect is an athletic scoring guard who may get some minutes with the transfer of a few guards. He can hit the catch three and throw it down. He can can create a little for himself but will work best off of their starters.
Kiante Davis SF 6’0 Camelback
A strong wing forward who is tough and plays with aggression. He is best getting downhill using his thicker body and works well off the pick and roll game. He will hit an occasional three but prefers to drive it and make plays.
