It is another day and the season is right around the corner for basketball in the great state of Alabama. I have had the chance to meet with two of the top teams in the state of Alabama straight out of the 205 and 256. These two teams has a very long résumé when it comes to basketball in the state of Alabama. These two teams are coach by some of the top coaches in the state of Alabama that knows how to win state championships as well as develop great talented athletes on the basketball court. The Pinson Valley Indians will be facing the Huntsville high school panthers and the 256 vs 205 challenge this season on January 18, 2023.
During this opportunity, I have caught up with the Pinson Valley and Huntsville High School basketball programs during the 256 vs 205 Challenge media day. These two programs are stacked with amazing talent on and off the basketball court. The Pinson Valley Indians are led by Head Coach Darrell Barber. Coach Barber is very excited to go into this season knowing that his team has worked extremely hard over the summer break to create a brotherhood and a chemistry-based program. During Coach Barber’s media day, he has emphasized family a good bit, and hard work. The Pinson Valley high school is looking to make a return trip to the Legacy Arena for the Alabama High School Athletics Association state championship. Huntsville High School is led by Head Coach Chris Schweers. Coach Schweers states that he is very excited about this match-up with the Pinson Valley High School Indians during the 256 vs 205 challenge. Schweers stated that his off-season was built on learning key fundamentals to help his team grow and build on being successful for this upcoming season. The Huntsville High School Panthers are looking to build off of what they have as well as come into the season much stronger, physical, and agile than any other team they play against.
Let’s dive into some of the amazing players I got to meet from both Pinson Valley High School and the Huntsville High School basketball programs!
Clyde Walters, 6’6 Combo Guard, C/O 2026 – Pinson Valley High School
This kid is coming into the season hot. This kid has been proving in and out during the off-season that he is capable of helping the Pinson Valley high school basketball team to another successful year. What Clyde is most looking forward to is the developmental throughout the season and looking at the growth of the team by competing at a high level each and every night. Clyde has shown a ton of growth and developmental skills during his entire off-season. Watching films about Clyde has shown me that he is one of the top combo guards not only in the state of Alabama but across the nation. Clyde is a young player that has the ability to stretch the floor at any position. He has great reach to catch a rebound as well as defend the basket for his team, but on top of all that, he is an excellent scorer that can get to the basket and put up points night in and night out.
Caleb White Caleb White 5'11" | PG Pinson Valley | 2024 State #186 Nation AL , 6’0 Guard, C/O 2024 – Pinson Valley High School
Caleb White Caleb White 5'11" | PG Pinson Valley | 2024 State #186 Nation AL is another player for the Indians that will also help lead this team to another successful season. Caleb White Caleb White 5'11" | PG Pinson Valley | 2024 State #186 Nation AL is a tremendous guard for the Indians who is very much a team player who is very vocal and the leader on and off the court. Caleb has stated in his media day presence during the 256 vs 205 challenge media day that he is very confident that his team has been perfecting their craft ever since the very last game of their season. Caleb also stated that he plans on getting each position on the floor involved in touching the basketball and creating opportunities for them to score. Caleb is a well-rounded athlete who currently holds an offer from Florida International University, which will not be the only one he gets during his time as a basketball player. Caleb’s game is characterized by quickness and efficient fundamentals and technique. Caleb will be a huge asset for the Pinson Valley High School Indians during the 2022–2023 season.

, 6’0 Point Guard, C/O 2023-Pinson Valley High School
Underrated is the word! Terry is by far one of my favorite players to watch in a basketball game. Terry is a great ball handler with a basketball IQ that separates him from a lot of other players in the state. Terry stated during his media day that he wants to improve his team leadership as a senior for the Indians. One thing about Terry is that he has a good vision for the court by knowing where each player is located to make a good pass to an open teammate. Tay also has the ability to create turnovers for the opposing team as well as hustle to the ball when it is in clutch moments to make a steal to gain a possession back. I truly believe that Terry will land a big offer after this upcoming season that will put him over the bar for a lot more teams across the country.

JaMari is very agile and has tremendous ball-handling skills that really open up the court for the Huntsville High School offense. This kid is also a well-balanced defensive player who takes pride in making stops on defense. JaMari stated that he is very excited for the upcoming season, where he is looking forward to helping lead his team in a positive way to make each and everyone better on the court. JaMari is a tremendous leader for this basketball team and will be looked at very heavily by college coaches throughout this season.
Caleb Harrison Caleb Harrison 6'9" | PF Huntsville | 2024 State AL , 6’9 Forward, C/O 2024-Huntsville High School
This upcoming season, Caleb is looking to be one of the top forwards in the state of Alabama. Catching up with Caleb was a spectacular time getting to know more about this young man, from his off-season training to the ways that his team has developed throughout the process leading up to the start of the season. This kid is such a skyscraper who will grab rebounds and create huge defensive plays by making a block on any shot that is in front of him. Caleb states that he has been working on being more aggressive on both sides of the ball, which will create more scoring and possession opportunities for his team coming into the season. Caleb also states that he looks forward to being a more vocal leader and player who leads by example. This season for Caleb will be a huge season as this junior basketball player progresses in his game.
Simon Walker Simon Walker 6'5" | CG James Clemens | 2025 State AL , 6’5 Guard, C/O 2025-Huntsville High School
Simon Walker Simon Walker 6'5" | CG James Clemens | 2025 State AL is currently a sophomore for the Huntsville High School Panthers. Simon is a player that is on the rise and should be on everyone’s radar going into his sophomore season. Simon is continuing to grow in length and developing a precise and exciting game style that will carry him into the season to help his team be successful. Watching the film on Simon showed me that he is equipped to handle the ball as well as be aggressive going to the hole. Simon is another one of those players who will continue to shape the game of basketball for the state of Alabama as he continues to grow, develop, and lead on and off the court. Simon is also racking up lots of offers during this off-season, which will continue to build throughout the regular season and postseason. Simon will be a huge asset to this prestigious program, and I am looking forward to watching him play, especially on January 18, 2023, versus the Pinson Valley Indians in the 256 versus 205 challenge.
