The senior class is looking to make its final mark on the high school season, especially players who were not part of the latest update. Here are the 2023 available unranked prospects to watch this winter.
Spencer Mahoney Spencer Mahoney 6'8" | SG Xaverian | 2023 NY , 6’8 W St. Benedict’s Prep
Mahoney transferred into St. Benedict’s from Xaverian in Staten Island and should make an impact for the Gray Bees right away. The 6’8 wing has a smooth release on his jumper and shoots with a high release point. Mahoney is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is an underrated passer. Mahoney has a pair of official visits lined up to DePaul and Harvard and his recruitment will be one to keep an eye on throughout the next couple of weeks.
Will Patterson Will Patterson 6'10" | C Patrick School | 2023 State NJ , 7’0 C Patrick School
Patterson is one of the top available big men in the Garden State and should put it on display this winter. The Bishop Walsh transfer runs the floor hard, setting himself up for easy dunks and baskets in transition. Patterson can get position down low and is able to draw contact in the paint. He uses his length to swat shots around the basket and is tough to box out on both ends of the floor. Patterson picked up an offer from Syracuse in August and should see his recruitment take off with his ability to impact the game in the paint.
Dan Mason Dan Mason 6'9" | C Bishop Eustace | 2023 State NJ , 6’9 C Bishop Eustace
Mason started his varsity career at Bishop Eustace and will be returning there to finish off his varsity career. The 6’9 post plays with good footwork down low as he is able to create space for himself in the paint and finish around the basket. Mason is unafraid of getting physical in the post and sets good screens in the half court. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and influences shots around the basket. Mason is a hard-working post prospect who will be the go-to guy down low for Bishop Eustace in 2022-23.
Jahlil Bethea Jahlil Bethea 6'3" | CG Ranney School | 2023 State NJ , 6’2 CG Ranney
Bethea will be a guard to watch in the Shore Conference as he is looking to help the Panthers get back to the sectional title game. The 6’2 lefty attacks the basket with a purpose as he explodes off the floor for dunks and draws contact consistently in the paint. Bethea is a good finisher around the rim and can score in the mid-range. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and can defend both backcourt spots. Bethea is a slashing guard prospect whose ability to get to the basket and finish will be key for Ranney this winter.
Noah Barnett Noah Barnett 6'8" | PF Don Bosco Prep | 2023 NLG , 6’9 PF Don Bosco Prep
Barnett returns to the Ironmen and should provide an instant impact for them down low. The 6’9 forward knows how to get position down low and is a good finisher around the basket. Barnett has a solid face-up game as well as he can put the ball on the floor and knock down jumpers on the perimeter. He rips down rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Barnett will be a key part of Don Bosco Prep’s rotation as the Ironmen are competing to take home the Non-Public A title.
