Dasean begins his senior campaign with the keys to the team securely in his hands. The Dragons will go as far as he will take them, and Dasean could possibly carry the Dragons to a deep playoff run. Whatever the Dragons need this year, they will be turning to the versatile and athletic senior. Whether it’s a clutch basket, a playmaker, a defensive stop, a key rebound, or a colossal scoring night, Dasean has the ability to make it happen. His game has vastly matured as he plays with a better IQ, reads defenses better, and produces with efficiency. He is a next-level talent who has developed his shot-creation skills, outside shooting, and defensive ability. Look for Dasean to have a monster senior year and put the Dragons in a position to be deep in the playoffs.
Milton Jones (6’4/SG/2026)

Milton is an incoming freshman but a returning starter on the varsity for the Dragons. He is a wing with good size for a freshman, and with a year under his belt, look for Milton to be a pivotal piece for the Dragons, particularly on the offensive end of the floor. He has athleticism to hold his own, has bounce, is a good ball handler who can get to his spots, and gets good separation on his perimeter jumpers. He is tough off the bounce as he hits gap with burst and finishes well in the paint and at the cup. He has shown that he can create off-the-bounce for his teammates and distribute the rock with on-time and on-target passes. He will be relied on to help on the boards, and he is fully capable of that responsibility. Look for Milton to emerge as one of the top 2026 players in the class, as I am sure he will be high in our first ’26 rankings next year.
Jeff Duncan Jeff Duncan 5'9" | PG Fairfield HS | 2025 State AL (5’9/PG/’25)
Jeff enters his sophomore season ranked #23 in the 2025 class and has been starting on varsity since his 8th-grade year. He is a floor general that can orchestrate the offense and score the rock. Jeff comes into the season with a chip on his shoulder, looking to prove that he belongs in the upper echelon of the ’25 class. As the Dragons look to rebuild the high school version of ’40-minutes of hell,’ Jeff is going to be the PG that is in full control of the offense and the pace in which they play. With Sellers being the primary focus of opponent’s defensive plans, look for Jeff to step into the 2nd or 3rd scoring option when the Dragons need additional sources of production. Jeff can shoot the pull-up jumper and hit shots from the perimeter, but he is far from a finished product when it comes to his perimeter skills. Despite still being young and still developing, he has some valuable experience under his belt that will bode well for the Dragons. Also, as you watch Jeff this year, don’t sleep on his aggressive on-ball lockdown defense.
When asked about two players that will be critical pieces of the puzzle for his team this season that was not listed in the top 3 above, Coach Lane quickly mentioned the following two players:
Kendrick Hubbard (6’4/F/’23) is a versatile wing player that can play inside and out. He can put the ball on the floor and create off the bounce, is a terrific scorer around the basket, and can provide the Dragons valuable production when needed. He is reliable and trustworthy with the ball in his hands, as he is one of the Dragons’ best ball handlers.
Chad Pickett (5’9/PG/’23) is a senior guard in the starting rotation and will be the other half of the two PG system that the Dragons run. Don’t look for Chad to be a high-volume scorer, but you can count on him to be a solid defender on defense and a facilitator on the offensive end of the floor that can also consistently knock down the open shot. He will be extremely valuable in what the Dragons will try to do and accomplish this year.
Season Outlook
The Dragons will be starting five guys who can handle and shoot the ball exceptionally well. Look for the Dragons to play a lot of four and five-out sets this year as they take advantage of their backcourt players’ skillset, versatility, quickness, and athleticism. Speaking of versatility, the Dragons will also have three big guys who can play inside and out, giving them the ability to exploit mismatches versus smaller teams. Coach Lane is optimistic that he is getting closer to having the Dragons play in the manner his state championship teams have played in the past, so look for them to play hard nose defense, and on offense, they will try to push the tempo.
I asked Coach what the keys are for his squad to win the state championship, and his response was, “Staying healthy. Last season we had our top two scorers miss the sub-region with ankle injuries, then played in the regional hobbled. If we can stay healthy, we will have a chance to make it to Birmingham.”
