Mehul Venkatachalam Mehul Venkatachalam 6'1" Parkway west | 2023 MO (Parkway West): A 6’1″ shooting guard who was one of those unknown players who really did well for himself at the event. He really did some nice things on the offensive end. He had some very acrobatic finishes in the lane where he displayed excellent body control and touch, despite being off balance. He was also very effective with the two-foot jump stop in the lane to make a move. He was also hitting the 3-pointer off the catch.
Bryden Gryzmala (Belleville West): The 6’0″ 2025 point guard had a very nice showing in the first game that I watched. He was strong off the dribble to get where the wanted to go. He knocked down a 3-pointer off the catch and he hit another while coming off a ball screen. He was also a good rebounder from the guard position.
Ashton Matthews Ashton Matthews 5'10" | PG Francis Howell Central | 2024 State MO (Francis Howell Central): The 5’10” 2024 point guard displayed his usual quickness and high basketball IQ along with his willingness to pass the ball. He did an excellent job of penetrating in the lane and kicking out to open teammates. He was very solid defensively while also hustling for loose balls and rebounds.
Owen Duff Owen Duff 6'1" | PG DeSmet | 2025 State MO (DeSmet): A 6’0″ 2025 point guard who has a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range. On this day, he was more aggressive on the dribble as he was getting into the lane and pulling up for mid-range jumpers, which is a good addition to his offensive game. He has added an effective step-back to escape from defenders on the pull up.
Tommy Hennessy Tommy Hennessy 6'0" | SG Oakville | 2023 State MO (Oakville): A 6’0″ combo guard who was comfortable at the point with the ball or playing off the ball where he was constant movement was very good. He delivered some nice passes to cutting teammates for buckets. He was strong on the drive and he also got a bucket on a coast to coast attack where he weave in and out of a wave of defenders. He can also score around the bucket with both hands.
Nick Williams Nick Williams 6'0" | PG Lee's Summit West | 2025 MO (Lee’s Summit West): A 6’0″ 2025 guard from the Kansas City area who has good quickness and a very active motor, which he displayed in his constant pursuit for loose balls and rebounds. He was effective getting downhill on the drive and he could shoot the high-arching 3-pointer.
DeVaughn Ware (Cardinal Ritter): A 5’5″ 2026 point guard who was one of the smallest players in the event, but he made a big impact with his perimeter shooting. He was very confident in his 3-point shooting, with range from well beyond the line. He also dropped some impressive dimes of the no-look variety.
Troy Perhacs Troy Perhacs 6'1" | SG St. Dominic | 2025 MO (St. Dominic): A 6’1″ 2025 guard who was in constant motion when he was on the court. He played well without the ball with his ability to cut to get open and also make hustle plays. He can also knock down the open 3-pointer.
Brady Schuettpelz Brady Schuettpelz 6'5" | SF Webster Groves | 2025 MO (Webster Groves): A 6’4″ 2024 forward who was very active around the basket. He was aggressive when he attacked the basket and he also did a good job of rebounding. He could also shoot the Corner 3-pointer.
Tate Gruver Tate Gruver 5'7" | SG John F. Hodge | 2026 MO (St. James): A 5’7″ 2026 point guard who really held his own at the camp despite being one of the youngest and smallest players in the gym. He was getting out and guarding people aggressively as he was moving his feet and hawking the ball with his hands. He is also a solid ball handler who handled himself well against pressure defense.
