Santa Ana Mater Dei took home the Challenge of Champions bracket championship, beating Corona Centennial in Sunday’s title game. Below is a breakdown of the All-Showcase team, made up of players who participated in games outside of bracket play.
Aaron Montez, 2023, St. Anthony – Montez showed that he’s a steadying force at the point guard position for the Saints after making the move to St. Anthony from Servite. The 6-foot senior handled pressure well, making timely decisions, good passes while limiting turnovers. In addition to his playmaking, Montez flashed a consistent pull-up jumper from the mid-range level and was a physical on-ball defender.
Alex Stewart Alex Stewart 6'5" | PF Pacifica Christian/OC | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Pacifica Christian – I really liked Stewart’s ability to impact multiple facets of the game. The 6-foot-5 wing/forward is a strong-framed and explosive vertical athlete who crashes the boards on both ends of the floor and is a high percentage finisher when slashing to the rim. Stewart also has good hands, footwork and touch when operating down low and can score through or over bigger defenders.
Brayden Burries, 2025, Riverside Poly – Burries is one of the premier sophomores on the west coast and he made it easy to see why that’s the case. The 6-foot-5 wing/guard is a smooth scorer from multiple levels of the floor and knows how to use his body and strong frame to create space from defenders for open looks. Burries showed the basketball IQ to act as the primary ball-handler for his Poly squad on multiple occasions and really just has an impressive all-around skill-set and feel for the game.
Brody Kozlowski Brody Kozlowski 6'8" | SF Corner Canyon | 2024 State #103 Nation UT , 2024, Corner Canyon (UT) – Kozlowski is a skilled, inside-out 4-man at 6-feet-7 who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. The senior forward is a consistent catch-and-shoot threat from three-point range, can play in trail action whether it’s stepping into a jumper or setting a drag screen for a pick and pop. Defensively Kozlowski showed he has the strength and toughness to compete inside with bigs, while also being able to contain guards on the perimeter with his lateral mobility.
Carter Bryant Carter Bryant 6'8" | SF Corona Centennial (CA) | 2024 State #12 Nation CA-S , 2024, Sage Hill School – The most recent recruiting “blow-up” belongs to Bryant, a 6-foot-8 wing formely of Fountain Valley high school and now at Sage Hill School in Newport Beach where his father, D’Cean, is the new head coach. Bryant has had almost every Power 5 school in the nation on the sidelines to take in his game and rightfully so. The multi-skilled, multi-positional wing fits perfectly in the mold of the modern “positionless” player with his high level “dribble, pass, shoot” abilities.
