One of those tune-ups, of course, came in the form of this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. The South Carolina rendition of the annual event was one of the first of Top 250 Expo season this year and once again emanated from the John T. Rhodes Sports Center in Myrtle Beach.
Which standouts with height advantages made grand stands on the Grand Strand? Here is who did just that.
Watford took to the court in all 27 games the 4A Bruins played in this past season. He had a breakout freshman season at Lancaster as he helped the team to a 20-7 record along with finishing 5-3 in Region 3-4A. Watford is already gifted as a scorer and one can certainly believe he will only become more of a threat to put points on the board as his career continues to advance. While at 6-foot-4 where he plays primarily point guard, he also has rebounding capabilities in addition to rim-attacking abilities. Watford averaged 9.6 points and four rebounds in 2021-22.
Smith was one of the first standouts from the 2025 that proved he arrived at the beach ready to ball since his Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo team was one of the first to take the court at the Sports Center in Myrtle Beach. He proved why he is indeed one of the sophomores to watch across the Palmetto State. He can shoot long range jump shots, can haul in rebounds and can convert those offensive boards into two-point putbacks. He thrives particularly as a wing player. Smith looks to be a centerpiece of the Braves’ program in the coming seasons and is coming off running AAU with Shot Callerz Nation.
Crawford plays right up the street from the John T. Rhodes Myrtle Beach Sports Center for the 5A Tigers. He has also ran on the grassroots circuit with Ascend Ballers and with Team USC Premier 2025. Crawford is a tall 6-foot-8 who is gifted at converting on high-percentage shots and maintaining elevation on the ball when he corrals rebounds. He also is an efficient floor runner and can operate well off inbounds passes. Crawford helped the Tigers to a 16-8 record last season along with going 6-2 in Region 6-5A. He proved last season he is just getting started.
