Once again, NYBA has provided players in the Southeast region an opportunity to learn and be coached by one of the most knowledgeable basketball minds in the game today, none other than Paul Biancardi. Players came out giving their all and putting their game on display. The high school division had talent all over the gym, but here are a few players I acknowledged as #GameChangers.
Tmontez Hurt (6’0/PG/2023)
School: Hunterslane HS
Instagram: Tezzobucks
Twitter: @Tezzobucks1
Tmontez is an athletic PG who plays bigger than his 6’0 frame. He was one of the better rebounding guards at camp and wasn’t afraid of getting down in the paint and mixing it up with the bigs. He is quick off his feet and actually surprised some of the bigger players as he contended for the boards. He has good court awareness and vision and was dropping dimes while being a reliable ball handler. T. Hurt shot the ball well from beyond the arc and put pressure on his defender off the bounce. He was extremely active defensively as he played the passing lanes and created stops in his one-on-one match-ups. He lifted the intensity level of his squad with his play and is a player that can provide valuable minutes that are filled with production in all areas of the game.
What Made Him a GameChanger:
He is a solid PG that affects the game in all areas. When you have a PG that improves the quality of play on your team and can sustain that level of play over a period of time during a contest, you are looking at a #GameChanger, and that is what Tmontez is and what he showed throughout camp. His energy is infectious, and he is definitely ready for his senior campaign.
Michael Nwoye Michael Nwoye 6'5" | PF Hume-Fogg | 2025 State TN (6’5/PF/2025)
School: Hume-Fogg HS
Instagram: iam.michaeln
Twitter: @Michaeln62116
Michael is a physically gifted athlete that continues to show improvement every time I see him. His strength is on the glass, and he was aggressive on the boards throughout camp. One thing about Michael is that he understands his strengths and tries to stay within them. He is a hard-working player who constantly finds blue-collar ways to impact the game. Defensively, he showed that he can take away easy looks at the rim, and he did it by hardly ever being out of position. He is an effective finisher, even though he is not a player that teams would run their offense through; however, he is capable of overpowering a mismatch when necessary. With Michael, it is all about his role, and his services are quite a luxury because he plays within his role.
What Made Him a GameChanger:
Many players seldom understand or accept their role in today’s game, especially at the high school level. With so many people in players’ ears now, many believe they should significantly impact their teams more than the role the coach is asking them to play. What makes Michael a #GameChanger is his acceptance of his role and his determination to perform his responsibilities at all cost. When a player is settled into their coach’s expectations, pressure is taken off, and they can really be a major factor on the court just by playing their role, which is what Michael does very well.
Ty Price (5’10/PG/2025)
School: Butler County HS
Instagram: The_realtp22
Twitter: @TyPrice2025
Ty had a nice showing at camp as he was a smooth PG with vision, handles, good passing skills, and an ability to knock down the trey ball. He showed that he is a true floor general that was very comfortable orchestrating the offense. He does not have a lot of size, but he showed a lot of intelligence on the court. He’s a crafty little guard who played under great control, got his teammates involved, made some really nice passes, and put a lot of pressure on the defense with his scoring ability. He has good court awareness and does a good job of anticipating the movement of the defense, passing out of double teams, and swinging the ball away from pressure. Defensively, he took on the challenge of competing against some of the bigger guards and held his own in his one-on-one match-ups. He has quick hands that made ball-handlers extremely cautious when handing the ball in front of him. I would say he was a little underrated when it came to side conversations with coaches working the camp because I believe he showed that he deserved more attention than what was given.
What Made Him a GameChanger:
It is simple when it comes to Ty, he plays like a coach on the floor and really excels at running the offense. When you have this caliber player at the head of the ship, it is definitely a #GameChanger. He is a ’25 kid that can be a cornerstone for his team over the next couple of years.
Brayden Rivers (6’6/W/2025)
School: Huntsville HS
Instagram: braydenrivers
Twitter: @B_Rivers_2025
Brayden did a lot of his work on the defensive end of the floor, as he showed a lot of versatility in guarding multiple positions. He has good positional size and created a lot of mismatches throughout camp. He showed a good skillset and has nice technique with his jumper, but he has to be a little more aggressive with taking his opportunities. He passed up opportunities to get on the scoreboard when he should have been exploiting mismatches. One thing about Brayden to keep an eye on is his ability to play multiple roles on both ends of the floor. His wide array of skills makes him a valuable player and an underrated asset for his squad. He is going to fit in very well with the Huntsville HS squad that has Alabama title aspirations this upcoming season. He will not be a primary option, but his skill, size, and versatility will be his calling card for this year.
What Made Him a GameChanger:
Brayden impacted the games with his versatility at camp, especially on the defensive end of the floor. He plays under control and is a trustworthy player that will not lose the game for you. He is a swiss army knife type player that does a lot of things well.
Austin Tinnon Austin Tinnon 6'10" | C Tullahoma | 2026 TN (6’8/C/2026)
School: Tullahoma High School
Instagram: austin.tinnon
Twitter: N/A
Austin is a freshman that is starting his high school career and showed a lot of promise. His size and length was the first notable attribute when it came to his game. A 6’8 player in the camp’s freshman and middle school area definitely got my attention when I walked in. Austin did what most would expect when it came to protecting the rim and suppressing opponents’ percentages of scoring, and he rebounded at a high rate. Offensively, he showed flashes as a back-to-the-basket player but has to get stronger to battle against players that do not have his size but play him physically on the low block. He has to work on his base as he was easily moved at times. He showed his ability to score around the rim but still has a ways to go when it comes to him being a player that his team can run the offense thru.
What Made Him a GameChanger:
There is an old saying that states, ‘you can’t teach height,’ and Austin definitely has the height. When you think about a rising freshman stepping into high school at that size, along with a developing skill set, he changes the game the moment he steps onto the court. I am sure he has more growth in him, so look for him to be an interior force over the next few years.
Cade Bennerman Cade Bennerman 6'11" | PF Father Ryan | 2025 State #262 Nation TN (N/A|Center|2025)
School: N/A
Instagram: N/A
Twitter: N/A
Cade is a rising sophomore who showed flashes of why coaches at the next level should keep their eyes on him; then, he showed flashes where you see in his game that he still has a long way to go with his development. He has good positional size, and I cannot provide my normal details as Cade did not complete our player profile, but make no mistake; his size was a key factor throughout camp. The strength of his game rested solely on the defensive end of the floor with his ability to contest and alter shots. His ability to cover space in the paint was ok, but he still has to work on his mobility, but his wingspan bailed him out of times when he was out of position and times when he did not rotate fast enough. At times he showed a lack of physicality and defensive intensity, but with the possessions, he was locked in, he shut down the paint and controlled the boards. His play, when locked in, provided significant optimism for the young center’s future. Offensively he is still developing as he sports a soft touch near the rim, has some tools to go to as a back-to-the-basket player, and uses his length to shoot over the attempts of would-be shot blockers. I am excited about keeping my eyes on his development over the next two years.
What Made Him a GameChanger:
The fact that he is young, has the size that he has, and showed flashes of his potential makes you wonder just how good Cade can be. Right now, with some of his game still raw and under construction, he still impacts the game and is a #GameChanger in the paint. He is a player with the potential to own the paint on both ends of the floor at any given moment. If he ever gets that dog mentality, watch out.
