Below is Part I in our preview of the 16 teams and top prospects who will be participating in the 2022 Competitive Edge High School Fall League.
Abington Friends: This could be the year AFS breaks through in the Friends League as their roster has at least four college prospects on it. Highlighting that group is point guard Kaydin Ford and wing Earle Greer Jr Earle Greer Jr 6'7" | SF Rocktop Academy | 2023 State PA (pic above). Ford possesses elite quickness, plays with pace, and attacks the rim. West-Ingram (Holds offer from RMU) is an athletic slasher with a long wingspan and hops who is phenomenal in transition. Supporting those two are Angel Otero Angel Otero 5'11" | CG Abington Friends School | 2023 State PA and Namisse Musonge. Otero is a dual threat combo-guard who can absorb contact as he finishes at the rim and shoot the 3-pointer. Musonge is an athletic wing with a silky jump shot who also likes to create off his hesitation dribble. AFS has an outside shot of winning the 2022 Comp Edge Fall League.
Berks Catholic: Senior guard Josiah Jordan Josiah Jordan 5'11" | PG Berks Catholic | 2023 State PA (a.k.a. “Jay Jay”) is a dynamic athlete (All-State in football) who can score at all three levels. In 2021-22 Jordan was BC’s leading scorer at 15.6 ppg. Perimeter shooters Ryan Koch and Jack Miller will flank Jordan. Koch is automatic from deep, hitting over 30 triples last season. Miller is a high percentage long range threat too. That trio forms a tremendous drive and kick offensive system.
Boyertown: The Bears are led by versatile 6’3” scorer Jake Kapp Jake Kapp 6'3" | SF Boyertown | 2023 State PA who is one of the most underrated prospects in the region. Kapp is comfortable scoring with his back to the basket, finishing with either hand. Or Kapp can operate on the perimeter as he can shoot treys at a high clip and score off the dribble drive. Running with Kapp will be fellow senior Zach Ward and 2024 prospect Brant Rath. Ward is a 6’5” shooting guard who can knock home threes or bully ball smaller defenders. Rath is a smooth “3 and D” wing.
Cardinal O’Hara: O’Hara’s deep and talented roster makes them one of the favorites to win this fall league. Floor general extraordinaire Izaiah Pasha Izaiah Pasha 6'4" | CG Cardinal O'Hara | 2023 State PA scores and distributes off the dribble at an elite level. Pasha’s ability to push the pace keeps O’Hara’s tempo ridiculously high. 6’7” wing Pearse McGuinn Pearse McGuinn 6'8" | PF Cardinal O'Hara | 2024 State PA is automatic from three. Combo guard Josh Coulanges Josh Coulanges 5'9" | PG Cardinal O'Hara | 2023 State PA excels at getting into the paint for buckets or for drive and kick assists to perimeter shooters. Class of 2024 standouts Aasim Burton Aasim Burton 6'3" | CG Cardinal O'Hara | 2024 State PA and Carey Cunningham will also be key contributors. “Flash” Burton is among the top 2024 guard prospects in the area while Cunningham posted a breakout July circuit. O’Hara is one of the teams we like to win this fall league championship.
Conestoga: Conestoga’s extremely accomplished Class off 2022 is now gone. Plus ‘Stoga has a new head coach. So, the Pioneers are facing a bit of a rebuild in 2022-23. Spearheading the rebuild will be senior combo guard Brain Schubert and junior shooting guard Brendan Styer. Both guards have been contributing varsity players for the last two years. 6’2” perimeter prospect Sean Mackey should see significant minutes as well this fall.
