There were plenty of big time matchups, college coaches in attendance and a great atmosphere for preseason basketball.
We take a look at part four of some of the top seniors that were in attendance for session one,
If you want to watch the entire event, you can see it here.
Jerome Conway | 5’10” PG | CBG East
Conway is going to be the senior leader on a young Varina team this year, and he showed at the Fall Series that he has improved a lot and looks ready to take on that role. The 5’10” lead guard is shifty as they come with a quick first step and good change of direction, he lived in the lane in both of their games and showed good touch over bigger defenders and brought intensity on both ends of the floor.
Justin Bass Justin Bass 5'11" | PG Kecoughtan | 2023 State VA | 6’0” PG | 522 Warriors
Bass had a great summer and showed flashes in the past few CBG Series but was behind some older guards, and now he’s the go-to-guy on this group and is scoring the ball confidently and in a lot of different ways. He can really knock it down from deep off the bounce when defenders sag off or go under, he has good burst to get to the rim and finishes well over defenders and he has the ability to get hot quickly and take over games.
Jadon Pace Jadon Pace 6'4" | SF Kecoughtan | 2023 State VA | 6’4” WF | 522 Warriors
Pace showed why he’s a high under recruited player as he has prototypical size on the wing for the next level already and he has improved consistently in his overall skillset over the past few years. He’s a knock down shooter who can get shots off with little space because of his size, he’s developed his ball handling to be able to initiate the offense and create space and his length allows him to get a lot of deflections defensively.
Dershon Orman | 6’2” WG | 522 Warriors
Orman was the x-factor for the 522 Warriors and will be that this year for Kecoughtan because when he plays and shoots the ball well he gives them an extra option to space the floor and fill it up. He’s a smart player who knows how to move off the ball to get open, he sets his feet and is always shot ready on kick-outs and he is a good team defender who stays in help and rotates well.
Etienne Strothers Etienne Strothers 6'1" | PG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’2” PG | Hard 2 Guard
The Appalachian State commit was fantastic and it’s been a lot of fun watching him grow and develop and become more consistent over the past few years to where he’s at now. He shot the ball very well from deep knocking down shots off the catch and off the bounce, he showed great shiftiness off the bounce and got to the rim consistently and he made others better with his vision and playmaking ability as well.
AJ Clark AJ Clark 6'2" | SG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’3” WG | Hard 2 Guard
Another player for this Hard 2 Guard team that has improved immensely over the past couple of years, there aren’t many players who impact the game on both ends the way that Clark does. The 6’3” wing is a super explosive athlete who finishes above the rim consistently and is a great shot blocker for his position, he plays with great energy and intensity on both ends of the floor and he’s improved in his ability to create and make shots from multiple levels.
