Jordan is an a strong defender who can use his foot speed which he uses well to wreak havoc on both ends of the court. He is great at staying vertical and timing up his blocks to protect the rim for his team. He has all the tools to be an explosive forward at the next level with his nice blend of athleticism off the dribble and his ability to consistently dominate in the paint. He is so dominant down low, he finishes everything around the rim and consistently cleans up the class. He has a reliable jumper from the perimeter, which he uses to his full advantage to knock down shots off the catch and off the bounce. His consistency from the outside allows the paint to be even more wide open from the pressure that he can put on the defense from the outside. I was very impressed by his ability to truly do it all on both ends of the court. Matthews has all the tools to become a valuable weapon at the next level.
Koreyan Davis Koreyan Davis 6'6" | SF North Crowley | 2024 State TX 2024 6’5 North Crowley High School, TX (Tarrant Elite 2024)
Koreyan is an incredible athlete who has the ability to play small ball center, but has enough guard skills to play the wing role or combo guard spot if necessary or attack off the bounce with his size and prowess with a live dribble. He is an increasingly more confident ball handler, getting downhill with his handle to finish at the rim. He is great at getting in front of smaller guards and sealing them off from having a chance to contest his shot. I was very impressed with his ability to score from all three levels of the floor. He is a confident shooter out of the corners, and uses the triple threat well to create space within the half court.
Davis is an incredibly dominant player because of his ability to play on the defensive end of the floor, he has active hands and uses all of his athletic ability to wreak havoc on defense. He put his body on the line to draw charges, but is an elite rim protector as the tallest player on his team. Whether he was poking the ball free from his opponents or rejecting shots in the paint, Davis always had his hands involved in the play. I also loved his ability to go coast to coast after forcing a turnover or block!
Jae’Coby Osborne Jae’Coby Osborne 6'6" | SF Bella Vista Prep | 2024 State #241 Nation AZ 2024 6’5 Fort Bend Elkins High School (F.F.E. Fresno Flyers Elite)
Jae’Coby is a prospect that has made a tremendous leap this summer, calmly and confidently developing all aspects of his game. He has the ability to affect the game on the interior and play the small ball forward for his team, allowing them to play five out. He affects the game like a more skilled and effective Draymond Green, handling the ball on the perimeter and running the pick and roll as the ball handler or the screener. He is a good screener allowing his guards to have a second longer to set their feet and score beyond the arc. Where I have seen the most development since the beginning of the summer was his ability to score off the bounce in the mid-range and attacking the basket. He looks even more confident with his handle and his ability to turn the corner on his opponent and get to the rim with his strong frame. His shot from beyond the arc has dramatically improved as well, going 4-5 in the first half of the game I watched, including a first half buzzer beater.
Defensively, he knows how athletic he is and how well he can use his ability to leap to fight on the interior. He constantly outworks bigger opponents, boxing them out and sealing them off. I was very impressed with how many rebounds he collected, or tapping it out to his guards. I was very impressed with how well he defended the perimeter, or anchored his defense from the paint. He quickly closed out on opponents and ensured that he cut off their angles.
Sam McKinney Sam McKinney 6'6" | SF Buda Johnson | 2024 State TX 2024 6’6 Johnson (Buda) High School, TX (ATX Force 2023)
Sam is a skilled forward who finishes at a very high level underneath the basket. He displayed great consistency at the rim, and finished well on either side of the basket. I loved watching him manipulate his defenders with his back to the basket. It was fun watching him work on the offensive side of the ball. He is beginning to knock down the three ball from the outside with more consistency, allowing him to blow by the defense and be a true 3 and D threat. I was impressed by his handle out of the triple threat, he was great at getting into the teeth of the defense with an explosive and purposeful two-three dribbles. I was also very impressed by his body control when getting downhill, he knows how to contort his body to get out of the way of his opponents and getting around his defenders.
On the defensive side of the ball he has shown a lot of growth, even in the short time it has been since I saw him last. He is becoming more aware of cutting defenders behind him, and has increased his production on the glass. He actively boxes out his opponents, clearing the way for him to grab uncontested rebounds. I loved the one-two punch that he and his point guard have, and I am excited to watch them take over their district over the next two years!
Brandon Beard 2024 6’4 Allen High School, TX (Victory Academy 2024 Blue)
Brandon is the ideal power forward through his ability to dominate on the glass with his size and strength to clear the boards and also his ability to defend on the perimeter. I was impressed by his foot speed and ability to defend guards and wings on the perimeter. Guards thought they had an advantage by bringing him out of the paint, and Beard took full advantage of that and used his quick feet and tenacity to harass ball handlers. He looks like he is going to continue to grow in strength and height, especially as he continues to work in the weight room. I would like to see him work on his ability to handle the ball on the perimeter, and his ability to get into the teeth of the defense with a live dribble.
