#15 Kayde Dotson Kayde Dotson 6'2" | PG Beaumont United | 2024 State #194 Nation TX 6’2 2024 Beaumont United High School
Kayde is an athletic combo guard who might have had the biggest leap as a prospect during this state title run, it was incredibly clear he was one of the best player’s on the court during both the semi finals and the state title game. He has a very quick and tight handle which allows him to get into the paint with ease. His ability to create space from his defender was very impressive, as he consistently got his spots beyond the arc and finished at the rim when given a glimmer of space. On defense, he closed out hard on his defender and kept his feet moving to keep his defender in front of him.
#14 Charley Reado 2024 6’0 Fort Bend Elkins High School (F.F.E. Flyers Elite)
Highlights
Reado is a dominant point guard who easily showing off the ease in which he creates opportunities for himself. He is a smooth and crafty player who knows how to attack the rim and get into the paint. When he gets two feet in the paint, good things happen for his team. He can fire out passes to his shooters on the back side, or make the right dump off pass to his big down low. He is a consistent scorer, averaging 15 plus over the entire tournament and a few games of twenty plus. I was very impressed with the ease in which he scored from all three levels of the court, especially off the dribble. He stepped into three pointers off the catch and knocked them down at a very high clip. I was most impressed with his natural point guard instincts, he knows to not over dribble and knows just the right time to make the pass. It seems he always catches the defense on its heels every time he releases a pass.
#13 Chris Tippins Chris Tippins 6'5" | SF Cypress Ranch | 2024 State TX 2024 6’5 Cypress Ranch High School
Chris is an impressive and fluid athlete, with the ability to play small ball four or handle the ball and create offense out of the 2/3 spot. I was very impressed by the leap he has made over the past year, especially with his decision making and overall handle. He is a highly explosive athlete, allowing him to detonate both on the rim and on his opponent’s shots. His ability to move his feet and keep his opponent in front of him really made their life difficult, and caused them to be very frustrated. His length allows him to tip passes and run on the fast break for easy offense, or protect the rim and reject shots out of bounds. I was very impressed by his defensive ability that he displayed on the perimeter, coming over at the right time to cut off driving angles and swatting jumpers on opponent’s who got by his teammates.
#12 Trenton Burns 2024 7’0 PSAT Academy (Houston Hoops 15U EYBL)
Trenton was one of the most impressive prospects in attendance with his ability to truly do it all on both ends of the floor. He possesses tremendous size and athleticism which allows him to wreak havoc on the defensive end of the court, blocking shots from all three levels of the floor. He has good foot speed to keep up with quicker guards and wings on the perimeter, and his size allows him to protect the paint. He had one play where he got two blocks in the paint, snatched the rebound, made the right outlet pass to his teammate and then spotted up for a trailer three. Burns has unlimited potential on both ends of the court with his perfect blend of size, athleticism and skill. On the offensive end of the court, he loves showing off his smooth stroke from the outside, routinely spotting up in the corners and is deadly as the trailer option. Defenders were terrified of letting him get past them to finish in the paint, and no one could rise up high enough to even get a hand in his face to contest his jumper. I was blown away with his smooth control with a live dribble, and how he could get into a one to two dribble pull up whenever the defense gave him space. At times he takes too many looks from the perimeter, and I would like to see him search for his shot more in the mid-range and with his back to the basket. Burns is a division one lock in my eyes with his incredible fluidity and ability to affect the game on both ends of the court, easily one of the most impressive 2024 prospects in the entire country!
#11 Jayden Gambrell Jayden Gambrell 6'4" | CG James Madison | 2024 State TX 2024 6’4 James Madison High School
Jayden is a high level combo guard who can get it done across all three levels of the floor. He is an incredibly willing rebounder, passer and creator. He possesses great size allowing him to get into the teeth of the defense and then finish at the rim. His high level finishing allows him to dominate in the paint and then score on the perimeter after keeping the defense on its heels. I was very impressed with his demeanor and how he handles the ball, allowing him to get anywhere he wants on the court. He is not afraid of defensive pressure and can calmly get to his spots. His ability to create his own shots really opens up the floor for the rest of his teammates. allowing him to find them with high level passes. His versatility on the offensive end of the court is at a very high level, and as he continues to develop his awareness on the defensive side, be on the lookout for this kid to be TEARING teams up this year…
