I attended the last day at Mesquite HS with some intriguing match-ups.
Here were some of the non-senior standouts I viewed:
Andrew Bhesania Andrew Bhesania 6'8" | PF Boulder Creek | 2025 State #348 Nation AZ Boulder Creek
A bigger forward defends well in space on the guards then will defend inside in the post. He blocks shots, rebounds and will push the pace. If he gets a little space in the lane, he will flush it down. He can fade-away from his defenders inside or hit the three in rhythm. It is often he takes the ball off the rim and will go coast to coast with some shift in his handle. He avg 27 pg during the tournament.
Noah Sowunmi Noah Sowunmi 6'4" | SF North Canyon | 2024 State AZ Paradise Valley (Pictured)
A bigger guard who is a good passer. He gets downhill and will score it efficiently in traffic. He can dribble in heavy traffic and split his defenders. He is an out of area rebounder who can get offensive rebound put backs. He is an all-around defender with blocks, steals and rebounds. He has a tough euro game on the break.
DeNali McNeal DeNali McNeal 6'3" | CG Canyon View | 2025 State AZ Canyon View
A good sized guard has many traits to like. He can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and burst by with his size. He uses hesitations to get the rim with either hand. He can take his man off the dribble and go to work with spins. He utilize his length on the defensive end with steals, deflections and rebounds. He pushes the ball down the court and will drive and kick it. He makes the catch-3 and brings a lot of versatility to the game.
Kohen Hill Kohen Hill 5'10" | PG Highland Prep | 2024 State AZ Highland Prep
A cerebral pure PG is always looking to set his man up. He has a polished 3pt shot and reads defenses. He can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and he can step into a three off the bounce. His IQ and skill pop off the page.
Presley Ibeh Presley Ibeh 6'5" | SF Highland Prep | 2024 State AZ Highland Prep
An athletic passing wing is a fun watch. He is a multi-positional defender from the 1-5. He may be all right hand dominant but he is still highly effective. He makes contested shots in the lane with his strength and body control.
Kyle Mott Kyle Mott 6'4" | SF Ben Franklin | 2024 State AZ Ben Franklin
A long and lean shooter from the 3pt line. He can use the floater and drive the lane. He has a quicker shooting release and uses his length on the glass and will block shots. He can create his own offense off the dribble and use the runner.
Tarrell Green Jr Tarrell Green Jr 6'5" | PF Lowndes | 2026 GA Highland Prep
The lefty has size, fluidity and can dunk it easily. He will rebound on both ends of the court and score on put backs and skies high for boards. He springs up quickly and will go up and score through contact.
Brayden Newton Brayden Newton 5'11" | CG Boulder Creek | 2026 State AZ Boulder Creek
A fluid guard can shoot the three and is quick enough to get to the basket. He moves smartly without the ball and plays with a high IQ. He will get some minutes off the bench and will most likely start next year.
Quincy Kirk Quincy Kirk 6'2" | PG Canyon View | 2025 State AZ Canyon View
A catch and shoot point guard. He can drive and kick to a shooter and thinks the game. He uses a burst to drive passed his defender and will find his teammates in stride.
