Players of Interest
Ben Zenker (2023) |5’11 G| St. Mary’s
A guard that will be a key piece to the Saint offense this year. Ben saw few minutes on varsity last year, but Zenker has grown in his time at St. Mary’s and will be a key factor on both ends of the floor. Ben does a nice job of changing the pace and he is a solid decision maker. Zenker is a creator who makes everyone around better. Look for Ben to have a nice senior season.
Brady Westphal Brady Westphal 6'1" | SG West Fargo Horace | 2025 State ND (2025) |5’10 G| Horace
This lefty can change the game with his shooting. Westphal is young but he plays with a high hoops IQ. He is a relentless worker that puts in the time to get better. Brady will be undersized at times but he plays hard and he will not back down from older/bigger players. Besides being a shooter, Brady will need to help with the ball-handling duties this season. Expect opposing teams to put pressure on the young Hawks and for Westphal to have a nice debut in the EDC this winter.
Caden Willer (2023) |6’1 SG| St. Mary’s
He is an athletic shooting guard. Caden’s main role last season was as a hard-nosed defender. This season Willer will be a key player on the offensive end. He offers a good amount of upside with his ability to share the ball and knock down open shots. Look for Caden to once again be a tough defender that will draw difficult assignments on a game-by-game basis. He is also a vocal leader and a key cog to this Saints squad.
Carvin Fish Carvin Fish 6'8" | PF Tiospa Zina | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’5 F| Horace
Last season on JV, he averaged 23 ppg and 12 rpg. It is safe to say that Fish was one of the best JV players in the EDC. Can he do that this season on varsity? If things go as planned, Fish will be in the conversation to make the All-EDC team by the end of the year. Fish has good length and size. He is an inside-out player that can drill triples. Carvin can really impact the game as a shooter. Fish is also a great rebounder with a nose for the ball. Get to know the name, Carvin Fish Carvin Fish 6'8" | PF Tiospa Zina | 2024 State SD !
Carter Evanson Carter Evanson 6'2" | SG Horace | 2026 State ND (2026) |5’8 G| Horace
This young Hawk is crafty with the ball in his hands. He is a great passer that sees the floor well. Carter also has an exceptional feel for the game, this should allow him to compete with older players at the varsity level. Evanson is an impressive shooter from deep. He will help stretch the floor and keeps teams honest. He will likely be the top shooter for the Hawks this year. Evanson will be cutting his teeth in the EDC. It will be exciting to watch the youngster playing varsity minutes this winter.
Isaiah Williams Isaiah Williams 5'10" | PG Lutheran | 2024 CO (2024) |5’11 G| Horace
He will certainly be one of the primary ball handlers for the Hawks this season. Williams will be tasked with taking care of the ball and creating open looks for his fellow Hawks. Isaiah has great ball skills and he is a gifted athlete. He has the ability to take games over at times. Can he do that at the varsity level? Williams is a good defender that will have the chance to prove himself as a great defender. Look for Isaiah to be a steady and reliable PG this season.
Jackson Ross (2023) |6’2 SF| St. Mary’s
He is a long and athletic wing. Jackson played limited time in varsity games last season. This year, expect Ross to be a tough defender that can guard multiple positions. He will also be able to score from all levels. Much like Willer, Ross will be a vocal leader for the Saints. Expect Jackson to be matched up with one of the opposing team’s top perimeter players. On offense, Jackson will be able to score in transition and hit open perimeter jumpers.
Jacob Goettle (2023) |6’5 F| St. Mary’s
He is an athletic big man. Jacob was a role player last season for the Saints. Goettle has a great work ethic and he is a solid defender. Jacob will be asked to guard some of the best BIGs in the State this season. He can also switch on ball screens and get the job done on the perimeter. On offense, Jacob will be productive on the block and from the wing.
Maddox Doppler Maddox Doppler 6'5" | PF Bismarck St. Mary's | 2023 State ND (2023) |6’5 F| St. Mary’s
A big man with great hands! Maddox played plenty of varsity minutes last year, but this season he will have a different role. Look for Doppler to be a two-way player that can score and defend as a versatile BIG. He will play inside with his length and strength. However, he is also a great passer and a solid shooter from outside. Expect Maddox to really stand out on D this year as a tenacious defender.
Mike Siffoi Mike Siffoi 5'9" | PG Horace | 2024 State ND (2024) |5’7 G| Horace
He is a very quick and strong guard. Athletically, Siffoi will fit right in with the other top athletes in the conference. He thrives at attacking and dribble penetration. Mike is a crafty finisher at the rim. If the D gives him too much space, Siffoi can also hit the 3-ball. Look for Mike to be a lead guard for the Hawks and to be an athletic playmaker.
Matthew Selensky Matthew Selensky 6'3" | SG Bismarck St. Mary's | 2023 ND (2023) |6’4 SG| St. Mary’s
He is a long athletic wingman that is an offensive talent. While he saw the floor last year, he will have an upgraded role, on both ends of the floor this season. Selensky shoots the rock with a soft touch and he can score from all three levels. Matthew will be a nice scoring option for the Saints.
Moustapha Diomande (2024) |6’3 G/F| Horace
He will be a key contributor for the Hawks in their inaugural season in the EDC. Diomande is a nice athlete with good length. He will provide versatility on the defensive side of the ball. Moustapha is a lefty that is creative & athletic off the bounce. With his length and mobility, Diomande is intriguing as a wing player. I am excited to see where he fits into the rotation for the Hawks.
Zach Velure Zach Velure 6'0" | SF Horace | 2024 ND (2024) |6’0 SG| Horace
Expect him to be another key contributor to the Hawks this season. Over the summer months, Velure became more aggressive on the offensive end. He will provide a scoring punch for the Hawks with the ability to get buckets off the bounce and/or off the catch-n-shoot game. Zach is also a hustler that will do the little things to help his team. It will be interesting to see what role he takes on this winter.
