Recognitions from coach Mattern
Hardest Workers: “ Nathan Stevenson Nathan Stevenson 6'0" | SF Dickinson | 2027 State ND and Finn Dockter Finn Dockter 5'11" | SG Valley City | 2027 State ND were guys who you never had to question effort. You could see how hard they work by diving for a loose ball, battling for a rebound as an undersized player, and just doing the little things right.“
Best Defender: “ Kaden Welstad Kaden Welstad 6'0" | SG Bismarck Century | 2027 State ND is a kid who will pick you up full court and work is tail off to make the game miserable for you. He really understands concepts of help and rotation as well and that was a big emphasis for our team throughout the summer.“
Best Rebounder: “ Ethyn Bye Ethyn Bye 6'4" | PF West Fargo | 2027 State ND did a really good job rebounding for us. We relied on him to get a lot of rebounds and he did just that. As the summer went on he got better at getting better position and not just using his size as well.“
Best Shooters: “ CJ Smith CJ Smith 5'9" | SG Sheyenne | 2027 State ND , Kyson Keller, and Reese Walters Reese Walters 6'2" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2027 State ND were three of my best shooters on the team. When these guys get their feet set, they shoot the ball at a really good percentage. They started shooting the ball better and better as the year went on as well and that proved to really help our team.“
Most Improved: “ Talan Gregory Talan Gregory 6'1" | SF Devils Lake | 2027 State ND was one of the new faces to this squad from last year, and he did a great job inserted himself on both ends of the floor. He is very coachable and will take anything you say and apply it right to the court.“
Dangerous Slasher: “ Ace Sheeley Ace Sheeley 5'9" | SG West Fargo | 2027 State ND is a really good scorer for our team. He has 3 levels to his game, and he knows how to get to spots where he can score, and he is very effective in doing that.“
