Ty Virgil Ty Virgil 6'5" | SG Supreme Academy | 2025 State #154 Nation AZ 6’5 of Sheldon HS
He’s got the tools to play both positions. He handles well, sees the court as well as any guard, he’s an underrated passer. He doesn’t seem to mind taking control of an offense up, even though he loaded with scoring potential off the ball. He’s long and wiry and getting stronger, he may grow himself out of the position. Virgil can generate points from different angles on the court, off the dribble and pulling up for mid-range, in transition, and 3pt shots. He has good length to defend, and rebound.
Cole Boake Cole Boake 6'4" | CG University | 2024 State CA-N 6’3 of University HS
The high IQ guard can and is willing to do what it takes to get a win, if it means running the point guard position. He’ll change gears and become a facilitator. He’s an excellent ball handler and passer who can get into the paint for dump off, and kick-outs. Off the ball he tends to be more aggressive looking to get points through dribble penetration and drawing contact fouls. He’s a good free throw shooter. He can hit the long 3ptr and has a good mid-range shot.
Jonathan Chapple Jonathan Chapple 6'0" | PG Oakland | 2024 State CA-N 6’0 of Pinole Valley HS
Chapple has superb ball handling skills, you can’t speed him up, or fluster him when he’s bringing the ball up court. He has good point guard skills, he’s a good passer, with good foot-speed, he can go by most off the dribble and, has the toughness to handle physical play and, contact on the drive into the paint. He can shift into scoring mode and look for his own throughout the course of a game.
James Moore James Moore 6'2" | CG Clayton Valley Charter | 2024 State CA-N 6’1 of Clayton Valley Charter HS
The high flying Moore is starting to settle into a well rounded prospect that can get a bucket. He not only uses his athleticism to wow us with dunks and blocks. He’s patient, has sharpened his offensive skill-set, and using it to score in a more consistent way. His lift on his mid-range jumper, and paint jumper makes it hard to block or disrupt. His handles to create off the dribble, and turn the corner is good. He may be called to produce points, but he’s shown he can run the point position.
Josiah Jones Josiah Jones 6'0" | CG St. Patrick-St. Vincent | 2024 CA-N 5’10 of St. Patrick-St. Vincent HS
Standing 5’10 he’s more of a point guard. He has the handles, and strength to take care of the ball and run the point position. At this level he seemed more suited to score off the ball with his relentless attacks towards the rim in half court, and in transition. He has one of the most consistent pull-up jumpers around the free throw area that we’ve seen. He fearlessly attacks the rim in transition challenging the big man to block it. He’s hard to guard.
KJ Ramey KJ Ramey 6'2" | SG Laguna Creek | 2024 State CA-N 6’2 of Laguna Creek HS
A true combo at this stage of his game. He’s shown during the spring and summer against quality competition he can be effective at both guard spots. We like his speed and quickness with the ball, yet a calm and steadiness with an ability to change gears as he navigates his way around the court. Patience to run an offense, a willing passer, he can go by to create for himself, and others. He can hit mid-range jumpers, and 3’s. He’s a top notch defender when locked in.
Gavin Cook Whisenton Gavin Cook Whisenton 6'2" | CG Liberty | 2024 State CA-N 6’2 of Liberty HS
We didn’t see much of Whisenton during the spring and summer, but we’ve seen his past work during the high school play-offs. He’s shown he’s a rising prospect in this class. He’s a basketball player that has the skills and abilities to play both guard positions if called upon. He might be more effective off the ball right now. He’s a player that can get a bucket from different areas on the court and in transition. He has the handles, strength and ability to get into the paint on a regular basis for buckets. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
Spencer Shonnard Spencer Shonnard 6'2" | SG Moreau Catholic | 2024 State CA-N 6’2 of Moreau Catholic HS
Shonnard shows flashes of being that point guard, he has work to do. He has quality handles, a willing passer, and good quickness to go by defenders and into the paint. He’s starting to show that he can make good decisions and show more patience up top. He has a good dribble drive pull-up jumper when he’s not on ball, and he can hit the 3pt shot in rhythm. He plays with good energy.
Damarion Vann-Kelly Damarion Vann-Kelly 6'3" | SG Monterey Trail | 2024 State CA-N 6’3 of Monterey Trail HS
We’ve only seen Vann-kelly on film, with that being clarified, he was good enough to play on the Adidas Circuit with Team Lillard 16U. He transferred into Monterey Trail for this upcoming season and he is on the Wright’s Watch List. He’s long, has good foot-speed and the hops to dunk on people in transition. He looks like a good court runner with high energy. He’s shown signs of knocking down set 3’s, and handles to create for himself.
Will Jenkins Will Jenkins 6'1" | CG Jesuit | 2024 CA-N 6’2 of Jesuit HS
Jenkins does a good job in transition basketball, handling and passing up, he likes to push the tempo, and take it all the way if there’s an opening. He can hit 3’s in transition, and spot up in the corners and on the wings for catch and shoot 3ptrs. He sees the court to make the extra pass. His handles are good and he’s shown the patience to run point at times.
