With schools looking for talent at the D2, NAIA, D3, NJCAA and NWAC here is a good start at some players that could be considered.
#32 PHU || 6’6 Kallen Lewis Kallen Lewis 6'6" | CG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT || Corner Canyon High School || 2023 ||
Sleeper talent that we got to see a glimpse of this summer. Kallen has some size as he passes the eye test in warm-ups. He displays some athleticism and some great complimentary talent. When paired up with some solid players around him he is able to do the little things to help a team win. Kallen gets extra tips and touches that extend plays and he also defends and runs the floor . When he is in the right place he either attracts a defender or he finds openings that allow him to score. Nice jumper that he uses when he is open and in the flow. Good wing that can flourish even more at the next level.
#34 PHU || 6’3 Michael Mitton Michael Mitton 6'3" | CG Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT || Pleasant Grove High School || 2023 ||
Michael was playing this summer with his high school team as he continues to work on his strength, health and game. When Michael gets downhill he is really at his best. He looks like a player on a mission. He gets in the lane and creates contact and finishes through that physicality. Still shoots the ball well and he just knows how to create. Good all-around talent and he could end up being a sleeper in this class.
#42 PHU || 6’8 Houston Johnsen Houston Johnsen 6'7" | SF Crimson Cliffs | 2023 State UT || Crimson Cliffs High School || 2023 ||
Houston boast some real next level size and length as his arms extended allow him to cover a lot of ground. Could turn into a sot blocker that contest on the ball and could be a solid rotation player on the weak-side. When he runs the floor he creates issues because he is more of a 3/4 but with his size he can get into the lanes and get a favorable matchup in transition. Still has some development to do but could turn out to be another steal with time and development.
#44 PHU || 6’0 Jaxson Workman Jaxson Workman 6'0" | SG Murray | 2023 State UT || Murray High School || 2023 ||
Jaxson has a solid fundamental foundation. When he is the lead guard he can handle and find open player quickly. Gets rid of the ball up the floor and he then turns into a major weapon off the ball. Jaxson is one the most underrated shooters in his class. He is deadly and can really stretch the floor. He moves well without the ball and he finds ways to get open even though teams know he is a dangerous shooter. He can walk into shots and hit them off the bounce. Spot up shooting he can really hit at a high percentage.
#52 PHU || 6’5 Junior Higby Junior Higby 6'5" | CG RSL Academy | 2023 State UT || RSL Academy || 2023 ||
Junior will be suiting up for RSL’s Prep team this year which might make him a bit unseen against some other high school players but he will be playing against older and more mature players which will help his game as a whole. Played for Kongo Elite and showcased how he can do it all. He is a playe rthat can get an early catch and run the offense. He is used to defending bigger which make shim a valuable asset as many teams like to go small. Great shoot and finishing ability.
