Taylor was a defensive terror in transition while consistently hitting his perimeter jump shots. At 6’4, I had to double take to make sure this guy was in fact only an incoming junior. His strong frame allowed him to match up with four positions either on the perimeter or the post. Taylor was electric within fast break situations, either going up to block shots above the rim or throw down a dunk. Within the halfcourt, he proved to be a knockdown shooter when given the space. While there is more tape to be had, Taylor strikes me as a dependable 3 and D player.
Justice Sutton – Ball 4 Life – Broken Arrow – 2023
The lefty wing was one of the most versatile offensive players for his class due to his passing vision and positional size. At 6’5, Sutton was a surprisingly willing passer, especially within fullcourt situations. He is someone who can get you 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists without needing a plan ran. Simply put, Sutton is the ultimate system player. Another refreshing aspect has been his three point shooting, where he was consistent off the catch and rising into shots. On the break, Sutton was excellent finding open teammates while rarely making risky decisions. Sutton has the blueprint of being a high level talent, just a matter of further refining his current skillset.
Junior Nsengiyumva – H&H Elite – Oklahoma Christian School – 2024
Another versatile defender, Nsengiyumva is a 6’5 wing capable stretching the floor and guarding a wide variety of skillsets. The wing is capable guarding out on the perimeter or banging with more formidable forwards in the paint. Unique to most wings at the tournament, Nsengiyumva was ambidextrous finishing the ball. The wing was deployed as a roller within the halfcourt, pacing himself well to maximize passing lanes. Ballhandling is an area he has room to improve with, especially when regarding self creation opportunities.
Trey Davis – Enid Elite – 2025
One of the best shot blockers in the gym, Davis proved to be a versatile defensive talent capable guarding four positions. Standing roughly 6’6 or 6’7, the forward maximized his size through his quick footspeed and fundamental defensive stance. Given his age, Davis is still growing from a physical standpoint, however he proved capable going straight up versus strong opponents. Davis was consistent as a roll man, especially when finishing with the right hand. I look forward to tracking Davis’s progression as a shooter and foul initiator.
Jeremiah Deering – RSE Black – Deer Creek – 2024
The bruising 6’5 forward was a consistent problem on both ends in post defense and rebounding opportunities. An energizing player, Deering sought out contact in a variety of situations. Most often was through his rebounding, where he consistently boxed out opponents, often overpowering them altogether. Another literal strength of his came from driving the ball with his right hand. On a few occassions, Deering flashed his vertical presence, catching a two handed lob on top of drawing a foul. Continuing to get more comfortable with the off hand on drives will be essential for the young forward’s progression.
