Antoine Silvers Jr 2023 6’4 MacArthur High School (Texas Footwork Bengals)
Antoine was dominant again this weekend, truly leading his team and showing off his ability to facilitate and finish at the rim. He is an impressive two way player who defends the perimeter at the highest level, but has enough size and aggressiveness to play in the paint as well. I was very impressed by the ease in which he got downhill and used his frame to bully his defender’s out of the way. He is great at using his quick feet and agility to keep his opponent in front of him while also using his athleticism to leap and meet his opponent at the rim. He had one of the nastiest blocks of the weekend in the paint, he high pointed his opponent and stonewalled him at the rim. On the offensive end of the floor, he is a dynamic player who knows how to set up his teammates with accurate passes. He can facilitate in the full court, which allows him to run the break at the highest level. He is a very intelligent player with very high basketball IQ. There were many instances in which he made the right extra pass to set up his teammate for an even better shot. I loved watching him manipulate the defense with his aggressiveness and his overall basketball awareness.
Didi Zanguim Didi Zanguim 6'10" | SF Good Vision Academy | 2023 TX 2023 6’6 Cy-Lake High School (CyFair Elite HTX 2023)
Didi is a high level wing who can do it all on the offensive end of the floor and is a dominant weapon on the fast break. He is great at using his size to finish with ease in the paint, and calmly backed down smaller guards who got switched onto him. He is calm with a live dribble and has his head up to make the right pass ahead in transition when necessary. He fired a tight bounce pass on the fast break that hit his teammate in stride for an easy layup. When the game slows down, he calmly operated out of the triple threat on the wings and corners and created space with a quick first step to get around his usually slower opponent. On the defensive end, he offers great rim protection and he is great at staying vertical to affect the shots on the interior.
Devin Gardner 2023 6’3 Eastern Hills High School (DFW Magic 2023)
Devin is an athletic player who lives at the rim with his tenacity and natural bounce. He has great size to play the shooting guard or small forward role within the offense. He is a natural scorer in the paint with his ability to hang in the air to avoid contact and his defenders arms. I was blown away with his ability to change his shot angle and finish through contact at the same time. He loves getting downhill and attacking the rim. His tenacity and relentlessness on that end of the floor really stood out as he lived in the paint and made some tough acrobatic finishes as he moved his body to avoid contact and outstretched limbs. I was very impressed with his ability to hang in the air and change his shot angle if necessary. He always seemed to be getting past his defender on the perimeter and looking to slam down a dunk on the help side defender.
He is not just a slasher however, he showed a natural ability to score from beyond the arc and the mid-range when the defense sagged off of him to take away driving angles. Gardner has all the tools to become a dominant scorer at the next level, make sure you keep your eye on this one! He also displayed an ability to calmly score of the dribble from all three levels depending on what looks the defense gave him. He has great size and long arms which allow him to play the guard position or on the wing depending on the match-up. On the defensive end of the ball, he is an aware help defender who slides over when a teammate is in need to reject shots at the rim or trap the ball on the perimeter.
Noah Babineaux 2023 6’5 Obra D. Tompkins High School (CyFair Elite HTX 2023)
Noah is a skilled wing who displayed a tight handle and a real ability to break down his opponent on the perimeter and get into the paint. He is great at using his quickness and agility which pair extremely well with his size and ability to take bigger opponents off the bounce. He can calmly operates out of the high post and makes the right passes to his teammates within the half court. I was also very impressed with his hands and his ability to catch tough passes that were not put on his body. I would like to see him work on getting more aggressive when turning the corner, there were a few instances where he got the step on his defender and passed out of a shot instead of taking it up strong to the rim.
Boston Hart 2023 6’2 East Central High School (Nike ProSkills San Antonio 2023 Red)
Boston is a creative scorer off the bounce who truly lived within all three levels of the floor with the ease in which he scored off the bounce. He knows the attention he receives from opposing defense’s and still got to the rim with ease and used his dribble drive penetration to create opportunities for his teammates. Whether he was firing out passes to his open shooters or making smart dump off passes to his big men, he always seemed to have his head up to dominant the competition. He has really long arms for his size, and he uses them extremely well on the defensive end where he can lock you up with intense on ball defense or throw back shots at the rim. I love the all around nature he has to his game, Hart is a very impressive scorer.
