SubscribeThe talent was stacked in Kansas City for the Prep Hoops NEXT National Championship. Each division was full of talented prospects and teams that played extremely well together. I spent some time focused on the 14U teams and narrowed down the athletes who stood out most over the weekend.
Below are a few of the standouts and what they brought to the court in Kansas City.
Anthony Todd | SoIn Blaze
A two-way playmaking guard with a high IQ and awareness for himself and his teammates. I liked his rhythm and ability to read defenders.
Khymir Carson | Team Illinois
Carson moves very well without the ball. His ability to attack angles stood out at Nationals. He showed elite on-ball pressure as well.
Keanthonie Neloms | ABC Spotlight
A strong paint presence! He was filling the lane and protecting the rim with the best of them at Nationals. He extended possessions on the offensive end for this squad.
Tishawn Clemmons | Team Illinois
Clemons is a dual playmaker who spaces the floor well. His handles are the difference maker in what makes him next-level ready. His effort matches his talent.
Bode Lashley | RSE Basketball
He’s a consistent shooter. Combine that with his great range and Lashley became a quick problem for teams in Kansas City. Enjoyed how he moves without the ball.
Tre Martin | SoIn Blaze
Martin is a major presence on both ends at the guard position. Next level ready handle and agility. He’s at best turning defense into offense. He was the game changer for SoIn Blaze.
AJ Ambrose | Ball By Design
Ambrose is one of those high-IQ athletes that checks multiple boxes. He’s a steady shooter and calming presence offensively for BBD.
Tahj Toliver | Peoria Dream
Toliver is lightning quick. He has strong and steady handles to go alongside his awareness when attacking the rim. His willingness to pressure the ball was impressive.
