Dallas Showtyme UA rightfully walked away with the 17U championship as they made their way through a gauntlet of good teams. In this review of the Grind Region Finals, I will give my version of the all-tournament team. These players were very deserving of the honor and will be players to watch during the live period approaching.
All-Tournament 1st Team (listed in alphabetical order)
Kadyn Betts Kadyn Betts 6'7" | PF Huntington Prep | 2023 #90 Nation CO (P.L.U.T.O. Prospects)- Best player in reference to skill set on the first team. He helped the P.L.U.T.O. Prospects make the semifinals by making outside shots, posting up, and running the floor. Even when he spent time in foul trouble, he provided a spark with his emotion and energy when he returned. Betts was the most complete player on the first team.
Jaedyn Brown Jaedyn Brown 6'3" | CG Pullman | 2023 State WA (24MD Team Daum ’23) – Brown was one of the better guards who played over the weekend. He is a long two guard who can really fill it up from downtown. He is not going to blow by his defender with his first step but he handles the ball well and uses angles to get to the places he wants to get on the floor. Brown is pretty much money from the mid-range and the three point line.
Augustine Chibuko Augustine Chibuko 6'5" | SF North Garland | 2022 State TX (Athletic Elite) – The 2022 wing from North Garland had a very good showing at the Grind Region Final. He was excellent in one-on-one situations where he took defender after defender to the rim and finished through contact leading to and-1 opportunities. Chibuko was good in transition as well finishing with a dunk on a couple of occasions. He may be a good late signee for someone looking for a wing because of his attacking style on offense and the way he defends on the perimeter.
Cole Franklin Cole Franklin 6'4" | PG Red Rock Academy | 2023 NV (Dallas Showtyme UA) – Franklin may not have scored the most of the Dallas Showtyme guards. However, he made a ton of positive things happen on the offensive end of the floor. Franklin played as a 6’4″ point guard and when he got into the paint, he made some very good decisions when deciding to pass or shoot. His play-making helped the other Dallas Showtyme guards be successful as they brought home the championship on Sunday.
Kohen Rowbatham Kohen Rowbatham 6'1" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State LA (FIFA Elite) – Rowbatham was the most unstoppable player on the weekend. He used an assortment of moves during each game that had defenders shaking their heads. His ability to score at all levels was a mix of his basketball IQ and his athleticism. Kohen used floaters, short jumpers, and threes to keep defenders off balance all tournament long. His guard playing ability was special to see in DFW. Louisiana better watch out.
Kordrick Turner Kordrick Turner 6'7" | C Sulphur Springs | 2023 State #296 Nation TX (Dallas Showtyme UA) – Turner was a load to handle in the paint. Honestly, there were certain points during each contest when he was as hard to stop as anyone else in the gym. His assortment of up-and-under moves along with being patient on shot fakes made him tough to cover for a lot of teams. Turner was a big reason why Dallas Showtyme walked away with the 17U title.

Reginald Osborne (Dallas Showtyme UA)
Ronneal Harold Ronneal Harold 6'6" | PF Amite | 2023 State LA (FIFA Elite)

Joel Speckman Joel Speckman 6'8" | PF Chaparral | 2022 State CO (P.L.U.T.O. Prospects)
Luke Wagstaff Luke Wagstaff 6'7" Fort Collins | 2023 CO (24MD Team Daum ’23)
All-Tournament 3rd Team (listed in alphabetical order)

Brandon Harrison (TA Elite)
Shad Levy Shad Levy 6'3" | CG Dunham | 2023 State LA (Showtime Elite ’23)

Savon Price (Dallas Showtyme UA)
Reece Seicshnaydre Reece Seicshnaydre 6'3" | CG St. Paul's | 2023 State LA (FIFA Elite)
These players performed above and beyond during the weekend at Drive Nation and deserved being named to the all-tournament team. Look for these players to be players to watch as they play during the live period weekend coming up.
