We’ve been looking at some players that had excellent performances and games throughout the event. This is Part 2 of a series recognizing athletes that stood out at the event. You can read Part 1 below.
Leroy Blyden Jr. (2025, PG, REACH Legends 2025, UD Jesuit, MI)
Blyden Jr. was as advertised with REACH at Brawl For The Ball. He was slippery with the ball, always creating off the bounce for himself and his teammates. Blyden Jr. scored consistently in the upper teens and always had a handful of assists to go with it.
Tae Boyd Tae Boyd 6'3" | SF Grand Blanc | 2023 State MI (2023, SF, FF Underrated Elite 2023, Grand Blanc, MI)
Boyd stepped his game up big time during high school season and has continued that trend throughout grassroots season. He can really attack the basket, but his defense is what really turned heads at Brawl For The Ball. Boyd looks ready for a huge senior season.
Austin Cripe Austin Cripe 6'3" | SG West Noble | 2023 State IN (2023, CG, 5Star 2023, West Noble, IN)
Cripe flat out makes plays and makes players around him better. He controlled the flow of the game offensively and scored consistently at a high clip. He had a collection of games around 30 points and flaunted a pure and confident jumper.
Christian Dunn Christian Dunn 6'7" | PF East Lansing | 2024 State MI (2024, PF, DV45 2024, East Lansing, MI)
I’ve always really liked what Dunn brings to the table as a player. He has a toughness about him that carries to his teammates. A great example was his gritty game in which he scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while being an impact player on the defensive end as well.
Evan Haverkamp (2024, PF/C, REAL 2024, McBain, MI)
Haverkamp is making Grand Rapids his stomping grounds, as he was dynamite at Rumble In The Rapids earlier in grassroots season and was great yet again this weekend in GR. He’s long and lean and influences the game on both ends. Haverkamp had multiple double-doubles at the event.
Derrick King Jr. (2024, PG, Detroit Unified 16u, Grand Rapis Ottawa Hills, MI)
King Jr. is an underrated electric lead guard. He plays downhill and can attack of the bounce both in the half court and in transition. King Jr. had a 30 point game against Harbor Impact and a 29 point game against UTS.
Tucker Walther (2025, CG, Strictly Skills 15u, Schoolcraft, MI)
Walther has some nice upside as a player and prospect and continues to get better with Strictly Skills. He has a nice jumper with range that was on display in a 20 point game in a tight win against West Michigan United.
Brayden White Brayden White 6'3" | SG Woodhaven | 2024 State MI (2024, G/F, Downriver Bad Boyz 2024, Woodhaven, MI)
White is an underrated athlete that can score from multiple spots on the floor. He had an impressive25 point outburst over the weekend where he also grabbed 7 boards and picked up 7 steals.
