Ballin Under 1 Roof: Top PG’s

<p>I spent this past Live weekend at the Ballin Under 1 Roof event hosted by Ohio Basketball. As part of a 5 part recap, I will be highlighting the top performers from the event by position. This first piece will focus on the top Point Guards.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="867944" first="Caleb" last="Maurer"]</strong> (2023) <em>Dayton Elite Black (Fort Loramie)</em></p> <p>Maurer had himself a weekend for Dayton Elite helping lead them to a 4-1 record and runner-up finish in the Platinum bracket. Maurer has seemingly improved his handle and has a much cleaner feel with the ball in his hands. Has great passing ability and was putting the ball in guys hands in the right positions. While his athleticism wasn't on full display, I know what Maurer brings to the table with his bounce and know he can be a scholarship guy.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1203995" first="Brady" last="Hardewig"]</strong> (2023) <em>[program_tooltip program_id='2078657' first='Shining' last='Star']s-Price (Turpin)</em></p> <p>Hardewig played well in this first matchup where I got to see him compete since helping Turpin to a District Final in March. His patience and poised style of play means you won't see a bunch of flashiness from him in a game. Instead, Hardewig keeps a tight handle of the ball and orchestrates the offense while bringing shooting capabilities on the perimeter. </p> <p><strong>Dalton Kramer</strong> (2023) <em>Kentucky Select-White (Conner)</em></p> <p>Kramer played his tail off against a very good Dayton Elite team and tried to keep his KY Select team in a matchup where they couldn't find a rhythm. Kramer does what you typically want in a PG. Makes the right reads and can create opportunities when something isn't easily available. Kramer showed me some consistency getting shots up and making midrange shots specifically.</p> <p><strong>Mitch Temple</strong> (2023) <em>NW Ohio (Convoy Crestview)</em></p> <p>Temple was listed as a PG in the booklet, but his style more likely resembles a SG or CG. His vision and pass-first mentality matches more of the PG position he was listed as. However, Temple caught my attention with his play off of the ball. Gets open and can make tough shots off passes. NW Ohio was down several guys for this tournament so it was somewhat impressive Temple took the reins as the leader as a result.</p> <p><strong>Aidan Duncan</strong> (2025) <em>OBC (Trinity)</em></p> <p>Duncan is the lone underclassmen on this list and he impressed against a scrappy River City Hoops team. Whether it be on the offensive or defensive end, Duncan gets involved in the play with his high basketball IQ. Collected on the drive and was able to get good penetration off the bounce. Duncan is only 5-foot-10, but he certainly played bigger than this and took physicality to opposing defenders. With the departure of several transfers in the Trinity program, Duncan will see a larger role this upcoming season.</p>
