The talent was stacked in Kansas City for the Prep Hoops NEXT National Championship. Each division was full of talented prospects and teams that played extremely well together. I spent some time focused on the 13U teams and narrowed down the athletes who stood out most over the weekend. Below are a few of the standouts and what they brought to the court in Kansas City.
Luke Schroeder | Team Tyus
Schroeder is a light-footed guard with a special knack to play in space. His movement off the ball created driving lanes for teammates. He’s a sniper in catch-and-shoot situations.
Milton Nuahn | D1 Minnesota
Nuahn brought the heat to both ends of the floor. He was a menace on the ball and boards. Has a next-level frame and handle.
Max Jones | 12 Deep
A matchup problem! He has ideal size and impressive ball-handling which caused problems for opponents. Jones consistently was able to get to his spots and finish around the rim. I was impressed by his ability to grab boards and go coast to coast.
Rafael Glass | Detroit Bulldogs
Glass is a silky smooth guard with a lot of patience and poise for his age. His court awareness is going to translate extremely well to the high school level. His tight handles were on full display in Kansas City.
Jaden Boyd | 12 Deep
A crafty guard who gets downhill with his quick first step. Pressured the ball on defense really well. He led by action and by example. His effort and mental toughness were contagious all weekend.
