The event was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and featured hundreds of teams from around the country. Several local teams participated in this event, which provided a terrific exposure opportunity for the players. The event was perfect because it gave me a chance to take a look at some players I hadn’t seen in a while, or in some cases at all. In this article, we take a look at some of the fresh faces from the event.
Takeo Moore Takeo Moore 6'7" | PF Red Rock | 2024 State NV 6’6 PF Palo Verde 2024 – I’ve seen Moore a little bit a lot of times. This week was the same. He’s a long lean athlete, that can run the floor.
Caprice Brown Caprice Brown 6'5" | SG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 6’5 SG Palo Verde 2024 – Looks the part. Brown has a good frame, complete with strong legs. His skill set includes a little shooting, slashing, and finishing. He won’t blow you away with his R&J ability, but he’s a decent athlete.
Khaman Maker Khaman Maker 7'1" | C Trinity | 2024 State #127 Nation NV 7’2 C Sierra Vista 2024 (#3PHN 2024) (featured image) – Maker is best described as raw, but he does what he needs to do for a man his size. The 5 man protects the rim and rebounds at a high level. What I like most is that he thoroughly enjoys those tasks.
Brian Townsend Brian Townsend 6'4" | SF Arbor View | 2025 State NV 6’3 SF Arbor View 2025 – One of the most dedicated downhill drivers I saw. Townsend uses a middle linebacker frame to dish out punishment on his way to the basket. Haven’t seen much of him over the past year, he looks like he’s improved his outside shooting and ball skills.
Marcus Fizer Jr Marcus Fizer Jr 6'6" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ 6’4 SG Coronado 2023 (#10PHN 2023) – Technically not a fresh face, however, I realized that I have only seen him play live once in the past year. He knocked down some shots, but what impressed me, is that he showed that he can score in other ways besides jumpers. Fizer got dirty, mixing it up for offensive rebounds and putbacks.
Cornelius Irbe Cornelius Irbe 5'9" | PG Bonanza | 2024 State NV 5’9 PG Bonanza 2024 – This was my first time watching Irbe, and I really liked what I saw. Good two-way player that aggressively attacked ballhandlers, and had enough skill to be a playmaker on the offensive side.
Cyril Franklin Cyril Franklin 6'3" | CG Silverado | 2024 State NV 6’3 SG Liberty 2024 – Saw some tape on Franklin a week ago, but this was my first time watching him in person. He has length and the potential is there. He flashed a little slashing ability on film and it checked out live.
