SubscribePrince George’s, MD. — The Memorial Day Takeover event is always a must attend and I was fortunate enough for it to be played in my backyard this year. The talent was great and it was good to see some local DMV prospects go up against some prospects from different states. Below are five prospects from the 2027 class who stood out…
2027 Daniel Abass | Team Durant
Abass is starting to become one of my favorite players in the 2027 class. He keeps on getting better and better every time I watch him and mainly because of his improved skill set in the low post. Look for Abass to be one of the top big prospects in the DMV from the 2027 class.
2027 Derek Beau Daniels | Team Takeover
Another prospect that is set to make a lot of noise in the 2027 class is Beau Daniels. I wrote about him in my top post players article which can be viewed here. Beau Daniels has been anchoring Team Takeover in the low post on both ends of the ball as he is efficient around the rim but also a valuable rim protector on defense.
2027 Jomar Bernard | Tre Mann Elite
Jomar was the ultimate find during Memorial Day Weekend as he and his Tre Mann Elite group made the trip up to DC. There is a ton to like with Bernard given his size at 6’4 and the versatility that comes with that. I expect him to be an impactful three level scorer by the time he reaches high school and is looking to be a prospect to closely monitor in the years to come.
2027 Dwight Strickland | Team Durant
Strickland has impressed Prep Hoops Next this summer and continued his momentum at the Memorial Day Takeover event. There is a lot of upside with Strickland as he continues to grow where he is currently listed at 6’4. His size and versatility is allowing him to be an impactful two way player down the road in years to come.
2027 Malachi Terrell | Team Durant
Terrell certainly has caught my attention multiple times this summer and he was at it again during Memorial Day Weekend. Terrell is a skilled guard that can get to his spots well. He did a tremendous job getting by defenders with his skilled handle as he looked more productive on the court with the ball in his hands rather than playing off the ball.
