First Look: Vice City United

<p>Vice City United has emerged as one of the best independent AAU programs in South Florida. The team is led by head coach Anthony Varela. Vice City United is fundamentally sound in halfcourt sets while implementing man-to-man principles. This team has come together fast and bought into Varela’s winning mindset on both ends of the court.</p> <p>Key players:</p> <p>2024 Yasir Moses (Pines Charter) is developing prospect. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 15 points per game at the Grassroots Invitational in Kentucky. Moses is a solid three-level scorer in Vice City United’s offense. His athleticism makes him more than capable to defend on and off the ball.</p> <p>2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1055757" first="Dylan" last="Hoffman"] (North Broward Prep) is a true floor general. The 6-foot-2 guard does an excellent job controlling the pace and initiating Vice City United’s offense. Hoffman can open up the floor and score or kick out to a teammate on the perimeter. He comes from a winning culture after helping North Broward Prep win 27 games this past season.</p> <p>2024 Zach Pintaluga (Pines Charter) is a dangerous 3-point shooter. The 6-foot guard has averaged three perimeter buckets per game for Vice City United. Pintaluga is a sleeper in this class. </p> <p>2024 Sehmaj Mentor is an excellent defensive prospect. The 6-foot-2 guard brings high energy from baseline-to-baseline. More so, Mentor is sound in man-to-man principles. He will also put his body in position for charges (two per game). You can’t always quantify those type of plays during the course of a game. He is the type of kid you want on your team. Mentor has averaged 10 points per game. His mid-range game is his trademark. </p> <p>2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1306091" first="Jeremy" last="Elyzee"] (Flanagan) is an all-around star. The 6-foot-7 forward has averaged a double-double this summer with 25 points and 12 rebounds per game. Elyzee’s ability to shoot the basketball or slash to the rim makes him a mismatch for most opponents. More so, his length and athleticism allows him to defend multiple positions. He is an outstanding rim protector and rebounder on both ends of the court. Elyzee is going to make plays nomatter where you put him on the floor. </p> <p>2024 George Sterr is a 6-foot-5 prospect with a lot of potential. The Cooper City product is an energizer on the floor with his ability to slash to the basket. Sterr’s athleticism is excellent in a halfcourt set.
