The event featured some of the top private schools from Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina, and had hundreds of college coaches in attendance. We’ll have tons of content from the weekend, continuing with part two of the 2023 standouts from MD.
Rieco Hellams Rieco Hellams 5'7" | PG Good Counsel | 2023 State MD | 5’9” PG | Good Counsel
Hellams may not be the biggest guy on the court, but he is a difference maker with his speed and playmaking ability off the bounce. He is a blur in transition who can push the tempo and makes good decisions, he touches the paint regularly and with ease and he can knock down shots from deep when he’s left open. He’s a good on ball defender who can get under ball handlers and make them uncomfortable and he can shoot passing lanes for steals as well.
Corey Chesley Corey Chesley 6'5" | SF Good Counsel | 2023 State MD | 6’4” WF | Good Counsel
Chesley turned a lot of heads in session one and continued to do so in session two as he showed his elite athleticism along with his ability to make shots at an efficient clip. He has a good frame that’s strong and he’s explosive enough to get downhill and finish above the rim or catch lobs, he has a beautiful jumper with improved range and consistency and he brings it on both ends of the floor as he defends and rebounds too. He’s a late bloomer who coaches are just now getting to see and he helped himself as much as anyone these past few weeks.
Jahnathan Lamothe Jahnathan Lamothe 6'3" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #204 Nation MD | 6’4” CG | St. Frances
The recent Maryland commit was fantastic in session one and followed it up in session two with a good showing as he showed how he’s improved in the areas he needs to which bolds well for him moving forward. He shot the ball at a very good clip and showed deep range both off the bounce and off the catch, he made plays off the bounce and showed his ability to change speeds and get in the lane and he used his strong frame to finish through contact in the lane. He also just gives off a winning kind of vibe and will do whatever it takes to help his team win.
Carlton Carrington Carlton Carrington 6'4" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #84 Nation MD | 6’4” WG | St. Frances
The Pitt commit continues to impress with his production and he showed a mix of shot making ability along with great physical and athletic tools as well. The 6’4” guard showed that he can play on the ball to create shots or work off the ball to get open shots, he can drill it from deep and create space in the midrange and he has big time finishing ability as he’s explosive and can play above the rim. He was one of the more talented guys at the event and he still has a lot of room to continue to get better.
Jayden Ross Jayden Ross 6'7" | SF Long Island Lutheran | 2023 #144 Nation MD | 6’7” WF | St. James
Ross announced his commitment to UConn the day after DMV Live 2, and the St. James wing has a lot of tools that should translate to the Big East. He has great size with long arms and should be able to fill out, he can create shots off the bounce and score it from all three levels and he’s so smooth he makes the game look easy. He has tons of upside and showed he can be productive in a number of different ways.
