Hoop City Films and Baller TV were on-site working with Prep Hoops NEXT to capture live streams of games and highlight videos of some of the top players in the event. Below, I watch the film and evaluated what I was watching from each athlete. Tune in!
Jaden Boyd | YMOM
Boyd is a two-way floor leader who plays with a great pace. He brings energy on both ends and a competitive nature when in the game. His ability to get to his spots offensively is next-level ready. He is a hard-nose player who will finish in the paint with contact. Rarely is he sped up, his pace allows him to effectively make plays for others. He has great ball control and his understanding of angles of attack really stands out.
Dooney Johnson | X-Men United
Johnson is an all-around threat and a floor leader for X-Men United. He plays a positionless brand of basketball that allows him to Impact every facet of the game. He has the length of a big man which makes for blocks and rebounds. His steady handle allows him to break down his defender resulting in drawn defenders or an open layup. His athleticism allows him to shoot over the top of mismatches, as well as blow by bigger defenders with his foot speed.
Martin is a floor general and calming presence for CBA South. His ability to switch gears is next-level ready. He has great court vision and confidence when shooting the ball. He has a knack for seeing plays before it happens. He brings physical and mental toughness to the game. He plays hard regardless of what the scoreboard reads. Martin’s motor and IQ are a catalyst on both ends of the floor for his club.
Kingston Little | FBA
Little is everything but his last name. He continues to show up big for FBA. He’s at his best dominating the paint and using his body to make for easy points around the rim. His ability to seal guys in the post and keep the ball high is next-level ready. His impact ranges to perimeter scoring as well, where he displayed a soft shooting touch to keep defenses guessing. Little has a great presence about him and is rarely flustered.
Michalak has a very balanced game that makes him hard to contain on the offensive end. His downhill attack is very under control, he is capable of finding others with the advantage in transition. He has a silky smooth jumper off the catch that spaces the floor for X-Men United. He also brings tenacious activity on the defensive end. His awareness and instincts allow him to jump passes and ball handlers to the spot for charges.
